If you now see launcher 2021.5.2 your issue may not be a launcher problem at all. Can you start the game from ck3.app directly?

I don't think the Steam workshop has a feature to download mod files separately, if that's your goal. So yes you subscribe to them, next time you run the game they will be copied to Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mod/ folder.

Are you sure you are not subscribed to it in the Steam Workshop?

That could happen to any of us so I guess we're all idiots :)

All the best!

Do these crashes force a restart of your computer? Because I see several LiveKernelEvent in that dxdiag, which normally means a forced restart of some sort. Or is that a separate issue you are having with this machine?

Anything in error.log?

If you exit the Steam app entirely and run ck3.exe directly , what happens?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log .

In this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

That was the hard drive Windows is on, C: ? In other words this is a clean Windows reinstall? Or some kind of backup and restore process?

I see nothing in there to explain this. While we work on it keep an eye on the YOU'VE PLAYED time on Steam, if it approaches their limit of 2 hours STOP and seek a refund from them, as they will not honour that after that time.

in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

I assume CK2 runs okay for you?

Aside from the BEX64 errors in ck3.exe we see in there, there's also a Windows error Bad Module. Sadly MS don't tell us which one!

Would you say you are having any other Windows issues on this machine?

If you run the Update app does it find anything to apply?

And you could try this repair tool too:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Well that's unexpected! Really not sure what to make of that ... some weird hardware fault or deep Windows problem perhaps?

How do you feel about a Windows reset, or even wipe and clean install? A lot to contemplate to get a game going, I know!

Unless it's a single-user edition of Windows you can always make a new Windows user on it?

That file shows some Windows updates in progress. If you run the Update app, apply them, and reboot does that complete?

Aside from that I see nothing in there to cause this.

Try the clean launcher reinstall from post #3 again, but just after the uninstal line (first line) run the free utilities Revo Uninstaller and Ccleaner, see if they find anything more to clean up in the install process. there is also MS's own tool for that:

Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed

The Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter helps you automatically repair issues when you're blocked from installing or removing programs. support.microsoft.com... Read more

I guess then that doesn't load because of the earlier FMOD failure.

I'm checking with my manager to see if anything can be found n how to use that setting.

I frankly have no idea what on this machine is causing this for you, I am sorry. Please install and run the fre utility Speccy. Send it's output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

If I find nothing in there, can you try with another Windows user ID on this machine?

In there we see you have Norton AV app, but it is disabled. It can still get in the way like that. I suggest you remove it completely with the free Revo Uninstaller and Ccleaner utilities.

We also see you have Windows updates going beck to October that have failed to install. Run the Update app, does that go okay? Find anything to apply?

I haven't seen this before:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Hotspot Shield\10.9.3\bin\cmw_srv.exe
What does it do, can you disable it as a test?

I don't see anything else of concern in there.

I don't believe any of our games or apps use that, but I'm no developer.

I'm frankly stumped on this one, we see no clues in those files what is causing this for you. Has this game always been like this for you? or it was okay up to some point?

The previous game CK2 is free to play on Steam now, does that work okay?

Click on File up the top left, then export to a text file.

Well it is definitely a vide-related issue, but i see no clues in those files as to exactly what.

Let's try a clean reinstall of nVidia:

- uninstal that driver and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install that latest one by fresh download
Download Drivers | NVIDIA - reboot again

Good luck with that!

This is a strange one, we still have nothing anywhere that points us to what the problem might be.

Please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.
