Do they end in .ck3 or anything else such as .ck3.tmp ? You may have to go into their properties to check for sure.

If anything other than .ck3 you could rename them to end in .ck3 and they may well be able to load then.

Hmmm. I haven't seen other such reports. Can you install any other game or app with those utilities?

I have to say I'm not familiar with LTO. Is that something you do at compile time with Mesa? Or it comes like that now?

Local save files are in Documents/paradox/ck3/save games/ folder - do you see them there?

If this is the Steam edition, cloud saves can be seen here:

If the game does not create the Documents/paradox/ck3/ folder, or does not populate it, it's probably an antivirus issue. I don't know Trend ata ll, you could check with their support how to ensure the game is fully allowed through it.

Installation is done by the MS store app rather than the game itself, of course. Have you tried using the beta Xbox app instead?

Hey there!

Thank you for the report. I have logged the issue in our database for investigation.

With Win 8.1 you probably need to manually install the latest Visual C++ modules. Please go here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads and run the x86 and x64 installers, then reboot.

If that doesn't help, unload the Steam app entirely and run ck3.exe by itself - what happens then? Any error?

And what antivirus app do you use?

That problem is still being worked on, I am sorry!

I tried to do almost all the things that people comments on forums (reinstall, verify archives on steam, put low preferences in config,...) and other things I saw in different places but the problem remains.
Also temperatures are fine... just crashes randomly a few minutes ago to begin.
Does your Mac only have an Intel video system? if so I'm afraid that is the problem as it is not supported hardware for this game.

You are definitely getting the error in the title of this thread, is that right?

If so, the only thing other than antivirus apps that might cause that is if your Windows user Documents folder has been moved, or grabbed by OneDrive, so the launcher and games cannot find it.

In Windows Explorer right click on Documents in the left Column. Go to properties, location - what does it say in there?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Hmm, I thought that was fixed in 1.1.3 - what game version do you see?

Those temps are fine.
VivarBolivar said: Also just a note, I was playing the game just fine for hours uninterrupted prior to patch 1.1, but now it crashes constantly.
Is that in a save started under 1.1.3 or an earlier patch?

I see you are getting crashes in Imperator too, are they also associated with BSoD?

Next time you get a BSOD, please record the text on that screen, which can be a clue to what general area of the system the problem is. And you may also see more details in the Windows Event Viewer on those BSoDs.

BSoD are normally hardware or driver problems. Are these crashes repeatable from a given save, or random in onset?

I'm already helping you in a ZenDesk ticket. I'm happy to work in either place but not both in parallel!

Let me know here or there which channel you'd like to continue using.

What antivirus app do you use?

Add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

You may need to add steam.exe and C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2020.13/paradox launcher.exe to that list.

Ah, so you don't see the launcher at all, is that right?

If so Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Note that you can run ck3.exe directly from Windows Explorer, which bypasses the launcher.
