That I do not know for sure. But is seems unlikely the developers would have put in place a method for disabling a controller when controllers were not supported anyway!

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Oh, are you using Proton, not the native Linux editions of these games (all except Vic2 have that)? If so that explains the lack of log files!

Can you try the native Linux editions please?

That shouldn't be necessary - what file was that? And how did you know to do that?

As I say, that will not be a tested situation so I guess it could always have had problems at some point.

If you want to revert to that situation, you may need MacOS help - it ought not to have to ask for permissions every time, once set!

The only supported distro for our games is Ubuntu, so there may be limits on how much we can help you here.

Has this game ever worked on this machine?

CK2 is free to play on Steam now - does it have the same problem?

When you say there are no logs - there must be log and text files in /home/user/.paradoxinteractive/Crusader\ Kings\ III/ and in the /logs/ folder under that?

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

Hmmm. This is looking like a permissions issue, I have to say! Does it keep asking for permissions if you run ck3.app again?

In Privacy & Security, Full Disk Access, are Paradox Launcher and the game enabled in there?

We see two Bluescreens (BSoD) in there. Did you see those, were they related to this game or something else? Because they are always Windows, driver or hardware problems; next time you get one please record the text on that screen for us.

Then, make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that. Disable all items you can in the Windows Startup settings area, and reboot and log in as that new user again.

Then redo the steps from post #2 above AND unload GeForce Experience if running; do you get the same problems?

I would have thought they could help with that?

What happens if you run ck3.app directly from Finder, does it then start and play okay?

Ursus Mursus said: Steam mods files are in Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content.
When you subscribe to them, yes. As soon as you run the launcher they are then copied to Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod

Do the launcher and game write settings etc files there okay? Do mod files end up there?

Arkayne said: Ironically I've started having problems with the Xbox app, it's refusing to download games and giving me errors in regards to install locations so I just uninstalled it. I'll try giving Steam's CK3 version a try instead and I'll update this thread after a few days of testing.
I'll be interested ... I'd say the gamepass/Xbox infrastructure on Windows is more temperamental than Steam, but OTOH it's hard to see how that could lead to a hardware freeze!

The Mac User Documents folder has been grabbed by Dropbox? Never seen that before!

Did you actually want it to be like that? I'm sure it is not a tested configuration for the launcher or game, that's all.

Ursus Mursus said: Mods from subscription works, but mods in Documents folder don't
But subscription mods end up in the same Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod folder as manual ones do. I suspect you might need some help from the modding community in how to get manual mods to work! One option is to publish them in the Workshop then subscribe to them, of course.
