I'm afraid you have a memory problem:
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 5996MB RAM
That can be a hardware fault, or a wrong bios/firmware setting. Probably best to go to Lenovo support for help on that in the first instance.

Meantime, you can try unloading every other app you can before starting the game.

You may as well update that nVidia driver to August 2023

Sure, I will attach one of my autosaves that was made yesterday (I have tried to launch the game with this one autosave and 2 others in "save games" folder and the game crashed).
That save loads and plays just fine for me. I tried on MacOS/Steam, Windows/Steam and Windows/MS editions.

Can you try it on another Windows user on that machine? And/or on any other machine you might have access to?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

They've been off for a month, so no news on this, I'm afraid.

I expect that problem would happen to any game which tried to read in data from a save game that was so corrupted it crashed the game. Yes, the game ought not to crash in that circumstance, and/or ought to have a launch option to not read in save game data to get past that, BU... Read more

There's no mention of this game in that dxdiag, which tends to point to a cause outside the game.

Unload GeForce Experience if running, then run ck3.exe directly from File explorer. What happens then, any error show?

If nothing, make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that. Does the game work there?

The birdcages seem to me to be related to the hostage-mechanic. On that note tho, unless I am missing something, we haven't heard anything about that during the DD's... Am I missing it or will the inner workings of that system be more of a suprise? (I mean the store clearly says it is still going to be included...)

Hello everyone!

We're announcing today that with the release of Wards & Wardens, Crusader Kings III will no longer support the OpenGL renderer on MacOS and Linux as we shift our focus towards better support for the Vulkan rendering API. OpenGL served us faithfully for many years now, but we believe it has been thoroughly superseded by Vulkan at this stage and our time is best spent focusing on more modern technologies.

This change will not affect the minimum requirements for Crusader Kings III going forward, but will allow existing hardware configurations to take advantage of the performance and efficiency benefits offered by Vulkan. OpenGL has effectively already been deprecated on MacOS and (to varying degrees) Linux, so by using a more modern rendering API we're able to ensure better support for these platforms going forward. MacOS players on newer ARM chipsets especially should see notable performance gains from... Read more

As the release date of Wards & Wardens draws near, we're taking a moment to reflect on the artistic endeavors that have brought it to life. This time our focus is on animations and some of the 2D icons and illustrations.

Discuss Dev Diary #134 on our forums![pdxint.at]

Icons Hey there! I'm Nicolas, 2D artist working on this royal game CK3.

I'm pretty sure many of you checking out this dev diary must get pretty stoked about game designers writing about numbers going up and down, but as cool as it is to dive into the game's new meta, my piece of this dev diary is all about the art! Let me tell you a bit about creating game icons - in particular, how I went about creati... Read more

I have no idea what could account for that collection of symptoms.

Can you test this on any other machine you might have access to? Just to confirm it's confined to this one.

If not, make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that - still a problem?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:

Well that is weird. I don't think we're seeing other such reports.

Is it only autosaves that case this, not manual ones?

Can you attach here a save that causes this for you?

We've seen reports of that edition of this game crashing due to corrupted saves in the MS cloud. Unlike with Steam, MS seem to provide no way of accessing those files outside the game.

Are these saves you mention local or cloud?

Then it seems likely your problem is unrelated to the file move, that is a coincidence.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders - In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullS... Read more

Well, as I say the card should never get to those temperatures at a modest 60fps, there is a problem there - I am sure of it.

If it has always been that hot then it's always been a problem! The sustained high temps may have physically damaged the card in fact. Does it or did it ever get much higher, say over 90c or more?
