People of the Fog,

As part of the 2.6.0 update, we made some changes to the emblem system to have a player's rank more accurately reflect their skill level. This was done by setting unique pipping thresholds for each rank range that gradually become more demanding as you climb up the ranks.

While these changes did have the intended outcome, the new pipping thresholds proved to be too demanding on the Survivor side. As a result, not as many Survivors are reaching the higher ranks as we had originally anticipated, making it difficult for green-red ranked killers to find a match.

WHAT IS CHANGING?

In our next update, the number of points needed for Survivors to reach both the +1 and +2 pip thresholds is reduced by one. Killer pip thresholds remain unchanged for now.

The new Survivor pipping thresholds are as follows:

RANK 17-20 (BROWN)

For the next thirty years, Ash ran from his past, working at a Value Stop department store and seducing women in dive bars. But he screwed up one night while being high, when he read from the Necronomicon to impress a woman. Evil found him once more, wrecking the life ...

People of the Fog,

On March 24th, following a 2 week test, we decided to turn off the new matchmaking system.

The quantitative and qualitative feedback gathered during this period is essential to understand how the new system reacts in the live environment.

Our top priority is to reduce the high latency / ping some players were faced with when matched with other players across the globe.

Today’s matchmaking update restructures how we manage player queues.

We will be separating the matchmaking queues in three regions : AMERICA, EMEA, APAC.

This will ensure that players are also matched based on geolocation and should improve the overall network connection between players.

This update is not definitive and we are actively working on improving the system.

Our second priority is to reduce ranking disparity that seemed to have increased with the new matchmaking system.

This will be done in a future update.

For now, we will b...

People of The Fog,

As some of you may have noticed, we launched the Chapter 11 Demise of the Faithful PTB with some slight changes to the Emblem System. This is the first step in an ongoing effort to improve our ranking and Emblem System. Therefore, we want to provide you with information on how these changes may affect your matches and overall rank in Dead by Daylight.

WHY CHANGE THE SYSTEM?

There have been many community concerns recently regarding the current state of ranking. We wanted to address these concerns by adjusting the system to provide an incremental difficulty scale in both achieving and maintaining higher ranks. Each rank group (color) now sets its own requirements for pipping thresholds rather than remaining a static goal no matter how high in rank you climb.

In addition to the changes to pipping and ranking, there were several changes made to Killer emblem scoring. Killers have been generally pipping at a...

The new matchmaking system has been live for the past 48 hours and we will continue to monitor its status.

The purpose of this system is to make queue times fairer for all and to reduce edge cases where some players might experience long wait time.

What can we expect with the new matchmaking system?

  • The new system puts a player looking for a match in one of two queues: a queue for killers and a queue for survivors. Then at a fixed time interval (for example, every thirty seconds), it takes a bucket of players from both queues and matches them together, creating multiple lo...

Dear Developers, I have a short question. Because of the recent decisive strike change, will Dying Light get modification (like a slight buff or some effect changes) to combat it?

Will you be changing the Calm Spirit to affect the scream from illness and Infectious Fright or are those not affected?

The Plague

Introducing our “oldest” Killer in Dead by Daylight.

When she was five years old, Adiris, the youngest of a family of seven, was left on the brick-red burning steps of the Temple of Purgation at the center of Babylon.

To process her shock and sorrow, she held onto the belief that the gods had a plan for her. She led a life of quiet servitude, tending to the gardens, preparing sacred meals, and polishing ceremonial censers. At night, she would pray for a sign that would reveal her purpose.

When she came of age, she aided the high-ranking priests during the year...

Post

Over the past six months, we have allocated strike teams with the mission of improving the overall health of the game. As announced last December, we have developers working on a new matchmaking algorithm which we are actively testing and are almost ready to deploy. We are also targeting to migrate the game to dedicated servers by the end of summer 2019.

This blog post is meant to update you on the efforts put on optimization, which aim to enhance the overall game’s performance.

When we first released Dead by Daylight back in 2016, we targeted 30 FPS on our minimum spec. Up until recently, we optimized the game in bursts; for the console launch and before releasing a new Killer. We are now ready to set a new performance target: Dead by daylight will run at 60 FPS on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and minimum spec PCs.

Reaching 60 FPS on Dead by Daylight is not an ea...
