On this day, six years ago, players all over the world began a grand adventure. Since then, over 167 million Guardians have joined our ranks and championed the Light for over 8.6 billion hours.
During that time, this community has answered the call time and time again, raising over $8.5 million for Little Lights and worthy causes all over the world. So, when it comes to defending humanity, whether you’re in the 31% that smash, the 31% that love space magic, or the 38% that make cloaks look good, we’re humbled that you have chosen to make the Tower your home.
And now, as we stand at the precipice of a new era, ready to step beyond the Light, we should at least have some cake first. So, let’s light the candles and celebrate with the friends we’ve made in this truly incredible community. From the Farm to the Moon, it’s been a wild ride and we’re incredibly proud to have you at our sides for all of it. Here’s to the future – happy birthday, Destiny.

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve entered the month of September. This year has felt like one of the longest, yet shortest I’ve ever experienced. Things have felt somewhat challenging, but numerous voices in our community inspire us to take on the day with a positive attitude. This week, we’d like to focus our spotlight on someone who’s dedicated to bringing smiles to the community and helping us all find our footing on the way to new goals.

Meet: King Allan
Hello, and welcome to Community Focus! Tell us a bit about yourself, and how you came to the Destiny community.
King Allan: My name is Allan. I’m 28 years old and from India. I came to know about Destiny while wandering through a gaming hub and catching a glimpse of someone on the character creation screen. My love for the game began there and it brought me into the Destiny community.
Humble beginnings, as many Guardians have. Something that stuck out... Read more

Welcome to this edition in our series of spotlight articles where we’re examining Stasis via each of the three Guardian classes in Destiny 2. In our previous edition, we featured the Warlock Shadebinder. Here, we’re getting to know the Titan Behemoth.

This week at Bungie, it’s time to go get your titles.
We are well into the final week of Solstice of Heroes. Finish upgrading your armor before the event ends with the weekly reset on September 8. If you still need time to finish any of the objectives required to unlock the white glows, you can continue to knock those out even after the event is over.
Last week, we began to serve up new information on Stasis, starting with a ... Read more

PRE-ORDER NOW

Welcome to the first in a series of Stasis spotlight articles, where we’ll be taking a look at Stasis via each of the three Guardian classes in Destiny 2. Stasis is the first new elemental power to Destiny since the original trio of Arc, Solar, and Void, and its introduction in Beyond Light will have ramifications for players across all aspects of the game, from narrative to combat  , to the way in which players will customize their Guardians.

Each Guardian class will feature a new Stasis subclass with Beyond Light and, as you might expect, each class will use Stasis in a unique way. Stasis is the domain of control; an elemental power that is less about outright aggression and more about careful control of enemy com... Read more

This week at Bungie, we gave a chilling new look at Stasis.

It feels like just yesterday you were getting your first look at Stasis. Today during a virtual gamescom, we took a deeper look, introducing you to the Hunter Revenant, Titan Behemoth, and Warlock Shadebinder subclasses. There’s quite a bit to chew on. How do the new grenades work? What about melee attacks? What are those things that the Hunter just threw? This is just the start.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be releasing additional details through Dev Diaries, and updates to the Bungie.net/Stasis page. First update is planned for September 1. Set your calendar reminders accordingly.

This week at Bungie, we are sharing more details on the DCV.
Back in June, we introduced the concept of the Destiny Content Vault (DCV), an approach to evolving the game that will allow us to add new content, bring back some of Destiny’s greatest hits from the past, and support Destiny 2 for years to come.
As a quick refresher, when Year 4 kicks off on November 10th, Io, Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Leviathan will all enter the Destiny Content Vault to make room for Cosmodrome’s return and Europa’s debut.
Since announcing the DCV, we know there have been a lot of questions about what’s going away and how game systems will evolve to reflect the more dynamic nature of Destiny 2’s future.
Most questions are answered by this rule of thumb, “When a destination goes into the DCV, so too do its PvE activities and associated rewards.” But there are some edge cases and w... Read more

Please meet Uhmaayyze.
Alright let’s get into it. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what first got you into gaming.
UM: My name is Uhmaayyze and most people consider me the best hype man on Twitch. I'm a positive and uplifting yet motivational individual who loves to see others vibe or smile. What first got me into gaming was a game called Legend of Legaia that came out on PlayStation.

This week at Bungie, we kicked off Solstice of Heroes.

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably neck deep in Majestic armor, smashing through the Solstice of Heroes event. Our yearly celebration of Guardians near and far has begun. Solar, Arc, and Void have each taken a turn in the daily rotation of elemental damage. A few of you have already completed the majority of objectives towards your first Magnificent armor set, and are already off to the races on your alternate classes.

Tomorrow, Trials of Osiris will return at 10 AM PT. Seven wins might be all that’s standing between you and your Magnificent glow. Form your fireteam, grab your bounties, and get ready for a fight.
Before we get deeper in the TWAB, we’ve been seeing some questions on rewards for Solstice 2020 in comparison to years past. Let’s take a moment to clear up some confusion.
Last year, a Legendary Sparrow was available to anyone who fully Masterwork... Read more

I reckon’ it’s about time to feature one of the fastest animators in the west. You may have recently seen some of his animation work in a pretty awesome montage, or in a few cool images floating about on Twitter. But if you’ve had the high-noon sun in your eyes and haven’t seen any of their work, prepare for some beauty.

Enter: Drexis.

Welcome to the Community Focus. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Drexis: I'm honored to be here. For starters, hello there! My name is Drexler, and I'm most known online for my Destiny themed animation projects and 3D art, like my cinematic video "Collapse":

I love space, lore, memes, and music (little known fact, I actually play guitar!). I started playing Destiny in 2015, on Christmas day. Though, I had been eyeing the game for about a year before that. Once I got into it, my best friend and I would play almost every day. I'm still addicted! Other tha... Read more

This week at Bungie, we're getting ready for Solstice of Heroes.

Once again, it’s time for the annual tradition of honoring Guardians and your great accomplishments. Our free summer event, Solstice of Heroes, starts next week on August 11.

The European Aerial Zone is back and full of Hive, Cabal, and Fallen enemies for you to dispatch. Defeat as many of the bosses as you can in a fireteam of three and then hunt for chests that are hidden away around the floating island. The more bosses you take down, the more rewards you will earn.

Armor

This year, we have a new approach to Solstice of Heroes armor that we think is going to give you far more flexibility on how you show off your Solstice-ness.
Similar to previous years, you will start with a Rare set and upgrade it into a Majestic Legendary set. Once you have al... Read more

      • Guardians should expect a much greater challenge when engaging with this strike.

  • Leviathan rewards of XP, Glimmer, and chances towards Exotic Engrams or Bright Engrams are now back on a weekly lockout.
      • Note: Weapons and armor are not affected by the weekly lockout, and can be earned multiple times a week.

It’s not often that you get to meet the mind behind a meme, but today, we’re getting to know the mind behind too many to count. These things don’t just grow by themselves, you know. We may think that we’re funny from time to time, but compared to this account? They’ve beaten us at our own game far too many times to let them evade the Community Focus spotlight.

Enter: DestinyTheMeme.

Ah, DestinyTheMeme. We meet at last. Who are you? No seriously… Tell us about yourself, outside of the memes!
DTM: As the email address that I used to respond to you suggests, my name is Moira, I'm an undergrad at NYU Tisch Film & TV. Outside of memes I work on animation and screenwriting; go to the cafeteria with my classmates; participate in Smash tournaments, although I have no idea what to do (I tried to pop a super as Kirby); spend quality time with my dog, as well as work on art and write my (soon to be) novel. Some fun facts: I speak th... Read more

This week at Bungie, we shared our Prophecy.

Challenge. Mystery. The Nine. Deserts, cubes, and… whiteboards? Earlier this week, we did a deep dive on our newest Dungeon, featuring some behind the scenes developer commentary. Did you miss it? Well, let’s fix that. Hit the jump for a recap!
These are some of our favorite streams to host. We’ve opened the minds of our designers to bridge the gap between Guardian and developer and get you into their headspace. If you’re not in a place where you can watch a stream, we also released a ... Read more

A shadow approaches. The Pyramid ship floating above Io serves as a looming reminder that we are unprepared – that we know not what the future portends. You must search for answers if you hope to face the oncoming storm. You must seek the Nine.
You must hear the prophecy.
And so, you find yourself standing at the doorstep of a new realm. But how did you get here? And what is “here” exactly? To answer that, Andrew Hopps (world lead) and Brendan Thorne (senior designer) – two members of Bungie’s Raid and Dungeon team – take us back to the beginning. Back to when rainbow roads were for Italian speed demons and walking on walls required scrolling green text and leather trench coats.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERS, AND ARRIVALS

Both Andrew and Brendan have been at Bungie for over seven years. During that time, they worked together on more than 10 ... Read more
