I can't think of a solution for your unusual situation are requirements, i"m sorry. Windowed mode will allow you to put it where you want but you'll have to reduce the resolution slightly to fit in the screen.

That's a valid question to which I have no good answer, I'm afraid.

You don't have any sort of antivirus app active on this machine I assume? Generally Macs don't, but it's possible.

If you make cloud saves instead of local, does this still happen?  

Save file not showing means they are corrupt. But I can't explain how more than one file could be corrupted at once, that points to some external agency.

Do you have access to any other computer to test them on?  

If they were local saves they'd be in Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/save games/ . If cloud saves in:

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-EU4
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.

Not a problem with the forums, so moved to the correct game forum.  

Okay well the same applies to Win7 - does Update find anything to apply?

Do you see msiexec in Task Manager?

See if MS's tool for stuck installs finds anything to fix:

That looks like a log from msiexec.exe rather than our launcher logs, which should look like your post #3 above?

In any case it still mansions a previous stuck install , which is that 1603 error.

If you see msiexec running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

Otherwise run the Update app in Windows, does it load okay, find anything to apply - whether a patch, update, or whole new Windows 10 version? If so do that and reboot, then try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that?  

What launcher version do you see? Current is 2021.8.2  

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
- run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
- subscribe to a few mods

- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

The Steam subscription service is only available on Windows I'm afraid, not on Linux or MacOS.

If you can't play on Windows any more, please cancel the subscription in your Steam account, so it won't renew next time.

It is not possible with the 1.31.x patches I'm afraid . I have not yet been able to find if that is deliberate or a bug.

We will have to fix your launcher problem. What exactly is happening there?


Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the Epic client

Okay then, there is a problem in your standard Windows user profile. Diagnosing and fixing those is outside my experience, I'm sorry, you.would need professional Windows support help I think.

A Windows reset or reinstall would fix it for sure of course.  

My experience is that BSoD are almost always hardware or driver problems. Next time you get one please record the BSoD screen itself, that can help determine the area of the problem.  

If this game has had mods in it then I'm afraid we can't help with it here - disabling mods does not remove effects they have already had on the save game file.

But if you get any such issue in a save that's never had any mods used in it, do let us know!
