Trying out a few changes to the forum - you can read about them in this post: Please Wait 9 Hours to Give More Likes

Apologies for the confusion (and the impact on this thread, please don’t let it stop you) - it went live a bit earlier than intended.

The largest structures, the ones that are 10% the price, are structures that are generally not spammed and are also already enticing targets, so there’s less of a need to incentivize their destruction.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, it is appreciated. We’ll see how things go for a bit and I’ll make tweaks as needed.

OK, crunched through 600 replies. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Key takeaways and clarifications

  • Player made Quantum Cores do not have the desired effect as they will be industrialized and built on site with no added logistics risk. Nullsec alliances will now have to distribute Quantum Cores across space from the NPC station where they bought them. A new risk for them.

  • More destruction of Citadels will mean more demand for industrialists

  • The Quantum Cores are bought and sold at the “same” price, so as to not create an arbitrage. If you find a Quantum Core floting in space, its guaranteed ISK, not subject to market prices. Like blue loot.

  • We made changes to Wardecs fairly recently, and if Highsec wardeccing becomes oppressive, based on data, not anecdotes, we would certainly want to act

  • That said, any corporation that owns a structure today can be wardeced because we don’t want struct...

If there have been over a certain number of approved moderation flags within the last few months then you may be gated out of trust level 3 by the algorithm. It can still be earned, but takes time. It can also be lost if forum activity dips or anything along those lines.

Check out this article to explain it in a bit more depth than I’d be able to do here without copy pasting: https://blog.discourse.org/2018/06/understanding-discourse-trust-levels/

Moderators have tools to control this,...

We don’t, but higher trust levels are gated for recently approved flags so those likes won’t boost someone up over to the next rank.

The idea is that volume is limited so you have to be more selective about quality.

We’re not going to tell you what a ‘good’ like is or isn’t. And I may increase the cap a bit here to be less restrictive.

I just renamed the Regular title to Veteran.

Good morning everyone! So, this is what I get for pushing buttons at midnight and going to sleep

To explain a bit about what’s going on: Discourse (this forum software) offers a lot of tools and power which we haven’t been making use of. I’ve been talking about experimenting with taking us back a bit closer to the default recommended settings to see how things will go. This means enabling certain things like trust-levels and placing a limit on likes.

I will admit I didn’t intend to open the floodgates last night, apparently tweaked the wrong setting which enabled you guys to jump up in trust levels really quick. While this wasn’t intended to happen just yet I may just leave it for a while and see how things go, spinning dials as necessary and stressing out the ISD staff.

So, a few points from the above discussion....

Will take a look - it went down a few weeks back as well so I’m not totally sure what’s up. Poking the web team.

We had two separate problems this morning; both were network related: An internal one affected the DB machine for the Login Server (timeframe 9:12 to 11:49 UTC) and the other was the general internet outage at Level 3/ CenturyLink that affected Cloudflare: https://www.theverge.com/2020/8/30/21407429/cloudflare-down-websites-hulu-feedly-discord

Our services look healthy but we keep monitoring the situation as a handful of players continue having difficulties logging in to EVE Online or receiving their verification codes. Please bear in mind, that some odd behavior might be caused due to the CloudFlare incident.
