Hi everyone,

In today’s news item we talk about the new mining adventure which has landed on Singularity. It extends the storyline established in the new player experience which released last September and delves further into the mystery surrounding the attack of the AIR station.

Why not jump on Singularity, spin up a new character and try it out for yourselves? We’d love to hear your impressions and any feedback you may have.

The clone jump issue is being worked on. Thanks to whoever sent a bug report about it!
As workaround: it is possible to jump from stations, only Upwell structures seem to be bugged.

Hey!

We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Thursday, February 24th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time)!

What exactly is being tested?

Several changes to our audio and graphics engine, most of them should have no direct visible or audible impact, but we need to test the performance (which should be even slightly better) and stability of the client:

  • WWise audio SDK upgrade
  • Refactoring of code for ship engine sounds
  • Changes to reflections (this one should be visible  )
  • Preparations for future graphics features

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

  • Ensure that the launcher is patched to the latest version (important for Mac)
  • Change the server from Tranquility to Singularity in the bottom right corner...

Unfortunately the auto-start after downtime failed and it remained down until I came to the office in the morning at 10 and gave it a kick. Our DBA applied some fixes now and we hope that Singularity are starting fine during the weekend.

Compressors will be high slot modules

Post

Greetings!

As mentioned in this week’s Road To Fanfest Dev Blog, there are upcoming changes to material compression, giving an improved team-mining experience. New in-space compression modules will be added to the Rorqual, Orca, and Porpoise, which also add the ability to compress Gas and Moon Ores for the first time. This post will expand on the outline in the dev blog, giving you a lot more details, and enable us to gather your feedback.

We’re investigating the cause behind this and will have an official statement soon™

The prevailing theory is that the BRM’s were not properly communicating from 10 February until yesterday, so the drastic swings were the accumulation of 6 days worth of activity hitting at once. This would, of course, cause systems to seemingly have dramatic changes in short time periods.

The teams have been actively investigating since yesterday, and as soon as there’s confirmation we’ll let you know
