Whew, this necro'd post is missing a lot of context. There have been a lot of discussions regarding mod support on a lot of channels across EVERSPACE 2's development cycle. In fact, we've spoken on mod support quite a few times with major announcements, conventions, and our weekly livestreams, effectively stating that we agree having mod support would be amazing, but not something we can focus on right now. After launching on PC, we still have more very hot priorities on our table. The focus is ensuring 1.0 gets to PC Game Pass, MacOS, Steamdeck, and consoles. Even still, we have more intentional content to the game, including a free update out this year and a premium expansion next year.

Hard to say if it will happen, but it will still be a while if it does.

Hey, u/Giraffasaur_

What is going on with the 1.0 Gamepass release? Can you elaborate on the current state of things? It has been 11 days already past launch date.

Also, any further news on the DLSS fix for Gamepass? Is it "coming soonTM" or "we don't know when"?

Hey there, I've pinged the according accounts to see what info we (Rockfish) can get on this, still waiting at the moment.

Quick clarity that the DLSS, FSR, TrackIR issue is a plugin failure with WinGDK, which will be resolved. Regarding the update itself, it is well past our personal expectations of when this should have dropped, I'll be damned if I don't have news to share with you all soon.

Yeah I just want the same version everyone else has, bug fixes and DLSS support as my main reasons. I didn’t think it would take this long and the lack of communication and constant deferring to “it’s almost the same version” by the devs have added to my frustration.

Hey there, I'm sorry you feel there hasn't been communication on this front. This has absolutely taken longer than it was expected and we're feeling the pressure and frustration as well. Unfortunately, per my last message from 3 days ago, I don't have any extra news to report. I have once again pinged to have an update on this soon, both for your sake and for ours.

The problem with puzzles in this game is that they have very little to do with reasoning or logic. Instead they are about randomly stumbling upon solutions.

Obviously I'm not an idiot and I can tell that a battery socket requires a battery, but finding the battery has nothing to do with my deduction, pattern recognition or problem solving skills. There were no clues pointing to the location puzzle piece, no environmental narrative. One just finds it after searching long enough. It's not rewarding. There's no eureka moment. The one type of puzzle that works is the ancient lens one, specifically because it is supported by reasoning, environmental clues and level design in general. It's not particularly challenging but that's not the point. This is an actual problem to solve rather than finding a needle in a haystack like others have aptly described.

From what you are saying, it looks like this is meant to incentivize looking at your objectively beautiful handcrafted l...

Thank you for taking the time to put together this post and sharing your frustration here. I'm sorry you're frustrated by the latest rendition of the game and how these exploration challenges have come together. Much like others here, I think there may have been a little bit of a misalignment with expectations, but I see healthy points from what was to be expected. While I can't say there's a focus on this right now (since we're working on priority hotfix elements that truly damage or hinder gameplay), I can say there have been some discussions internally on managing these specific expectations via updates or adjustments in the future.

I am for sure on GamePass and, while I havent completed the game (so I dont know if its possible), I have all the other features listed in the Steam Patch Notes for 1.0.33479.

Please dont somehow roll back my version if so! hahahaha

Edit: My in-game version says 0.11.33163

From another comment of mine:

Ive got all the features in that post that I would have encountered; Im only level 24 and havent finished the campaign, but I see level 30 perks, have legendary items, have a codex, I see Khione, Ive killed tons of teleporter drones.

Hey there, we danced around certification by pushing a stable "99%" build through to Game Pass early (else you'd still be playing from the Fall Update with a hefty amount of content missing), with the intent to further update Game Pass a week after release with cleaning up some last-second details (there's an achievement not working, some cutscenes that got cleaned up, etc) that don't impact gameplay. That said, there was a failed plugin in this version so TrackIR, DLSS and FSR aren't working, but this should also be corrected in an upcoming update too.

As for when this will be updated, I've pinged for more information this morning, still waiting. I should have news to share soon.

Literally just pirated v1.0 while waiting for the version that I legally have access to. This is why the existence of piracy is ultimately beneficial to consumers, it forces platforms to provide a better service. Hell, it even helps you since there's fewer angry customers.

The game is awesome and I'm thankful that it's DRM-free.

While we don't advocate for piracy, I admit I am thankful for your support and your cleverness for navigating around a frustration situation. Hoping you won't have to resort to that build much longer and have the main (and further updated) build on Game Pass soon. I should have more info to share soon as well.

Hate to point it out but on the Gamepass version it's missing all hand drawn cutscenes after The Emissary. Also any water planets with atmospheric effects cause severe stuttering regardless of settings and the areas of solar radiation are unplayable due to frame rate loss. I love the game but the Gamepass release is not finished past half way point to many issues to continue enjoying. Look forward to the update.

Hey there, the update is addressing cutscenes and some optimization issues as well (in addition to a WinGDK plugin failure causing issues with TrackIR, DLSS, FSR). I can't say it'll be a miracle update to fix all issues with the water locations (these are the most demanding locations in the game IIRC), here's hoping it helps as soon as we get through certification. I've pinged all channels this morning and hope to have an update on the state of Game Pass soon.

TrackIR isn't working because of a failed plugin for WinGDK, but our folks at EngineSoft reworked them so this should rectify the TrackIR, DLSS and FSR issues once we get through certification.

Thank you for the update. Dealing with large corporations can be frustrating. Keeping my fingers crossed for the certification to pass as soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience; I've pinged more channels this morning so I'm hopeful to have more news soon.

Definitely understand your thinking, it certainly feels that way at times. I'd certainly like the special privileges those other companies get too. I suppose I'm glad we provided the "99%" version when we did, else this waiting period would still have Game Pass users on the Fall update (yikes!). I've pinged the appropriate channels this morning, I am hoping to have news soon.

Hey there, the FSR and DLSS issues were caused because of a WinGDK plugin failure and will be fixed. Otherwise, I've pinged again this morning for info; it's been way too quiet.

I'm not very far in yet. I saw a comment that the current version is "~99%" and it was missing something like the IR/Eye tracking thing, so I wasn't concerned about it, but I wonder if I am actually missing out on something?
Thanks!

The TrackIR - as well as DLSS - is a problem regarding a WinGDK plugin, which we do have rectified. Otherwise, all game data from this "99%" version of Gamepass will be fully compatible and brought up to speed with the 1.0 version. There's a couple of cutscenes that need updated at the end, a broken dialogue line, an achievement that isn't working, and a couple very minor, non-gameplay related issues that will be resolved. I can guarantee you won't have to restart once this gets through cert. I am once again pinging all the channels to see what the latest news is, even if it means a prospective timeline for an update.

Agreed, this is frustrating. By all accounts the certification should have passed and the update should have hit yesterday, but we're still being told it is "marked for the certification process" (this was 8 hours ago, and we have bumped communications to get more info) and haven't received any more info.

I have personally pinged this matter once again, as I'm growing restless of this fiasco as well. I know this isn't the response you want, but I truly appreciate the patience as this gets through the according operations. Once updated (or if anything changes, like my table getting flipped), I'll be making a new post in the subreddit directly to clarity details.

I know what the game is. I don't expect it to be only a "Diablo in space" game, I expected it to be a looter shooter with aspects of Diablo and games similiar in it. Which it is.

But I think there needs to be some brutal honesty here. No one is playing this for the story, they're playing it for the action and outfitting their ships as they want and how they want to play the game. The puzzles get in the way of that. It doesn't enhance the main gameplay loop. That's the problem. And with it being as big a part of the game, there's a reason why there's continually criticism on it. Because in every iteration, from Early Access through all the changes to the 1.0 release.....the puzzles still get in the way. They're sti...

First, thanks for your support and being a part of this journey. While I personally don't play the game for the story, I think it's important to recognize your opinions don't represent the entire playerbase, especially since statistically we have seen a lot of players both play for and enjoy the story (and the puzzles thereof to see all the sites), and still more players do enjoy breaking up the pacing when they decide to instead of feeling like they can only do one thing. Claiming the entire playerbase views this topic exactly the same as you, is actually a disservice from your own opinions. It discredits them with falsehoods, and I'd much rather validate your opinions here so we can have a discussion on how your experience was shaped and your needs met (or not met). Yes, there are users who don't like the puzzles, but even calling this the majority simply isn't true. It doesn't make your opinions less valid, but it does mean there needs to be careful thought as to what our team n...
