I can't make any statements which provide exact guidelines on what is and isn't ok as things are still evolving. Currently, we don't plan to help or hinder mods exclusively created for and used in offline mode. In online mode, anything that depends on or reacts to the current game state is strictly forbidden.

So for example, using num lock to auto cast a skill is ok. Nothing was done to alter the game client, the OS doesn't have any idea what is going on in the game and is just spamming a button over and over as though you glued the key down.

As a counter example, something which waited until your health dropped below 10% and then auto-logged you out would not be ok as that depends on and reacts to the state of the game.

I like to think of it like if I could get a handful of materials from a summer camp arts and crafts hut to make this happen on my keyboard, then it's probably ok.

Which brings me back to a question that I've been trying to get answered by anyone for months now.

Hypothetically, if you had a unique item with very large roll ranges on it, would a 4LP version of that item still be considered BiS even if it had min rolls on it?

If yes, what if the power gained from the 4LP was actually less than the power of the roll range differences? So if a perfectly rolled 0LP version was actually more powerful than an anti-perfectly rolled 4LP version and the low roll 4LP version, then the unique in general is BiS and the LP is just an extension of that roll range.

If no from the 1st question, where is the line on that power requirement for the item to be considered BiS? There must exist some arbitrary line on the item's roll ranges where it becomes BiS. How is it defined?

This tends to lead to a point where each unique item needs to have a definable point where the reasonably achievable version becomes that item's "true form"...

It’s been a while since I’ve personally played Spellblade, though it’s certainly had its times being the meta leader, haha. Sometimes all it takes is a small tweak, or a single unique for something to go from obscurity to OP supermeta, or reverse. From a neutral balance standpoint, maybe other builds having an easier time getting to 300 and above is what we should be looking at, haha :wink: . Though of course, as I mentioned, it largely comes down to the feedback we get, and we’re listening!

Hello, Travelers!

Wow, what an opening week for Last Epoch. We are absolutely floored by the turnout and response to the game. Having started as an after-hours passion project from die-hard ARPG fans, we’re in awe that Last Epoch reached 265,000 players online at one time this weekend, the #39 highest concurrent user count recorded on Steam - ever. We appreciate you all bearing with us as the load initially gave us trouble for online gameplay, but we’re happy to say that we’re holding mostly steady above 200,000 players in-game and have made improvements each day in the backend infrastructure to support the demand. We’ll continue to monitor and address any issues that crop up.

I want to take a moment to talk to you all about what’s coming next.

Sometimes, you don’t think it be like it is, but it do.

Being in melee range (very close range) means you have less time to react to abilities as they connect sooner. Hard to beat math on that one. Though there’s certainly things we do such as making those more instant melee attacks weaker than ranged attacks, but with infinite scaling everything hits a point eventually.

We are aware of, and have been discussing the eternal melee vs ranged debate internally. Ranged is generally able to push further for a number of reasons, mostly due to the intrinsic benefits of not being in melee range, haha. It’s a very complex matter, particularly when infinite scaling is involved, but we have certainly been discussing the topic of how ranged tends to pull ahead of melee at high corruption (about 600-800C~) as the unavoidable attacks for melee start becoming unsurvivable.

Generally for balance, we shoot for all reasonable builds to complete around 300C. Of course, different people set different goals for themselves, and may only consider clearing 1000C to be ‘viable’, but roughly 300 is what we shoot for. As far as I’m aware, Spellblade is capable of this with a number of builds. Of course, we do listen very closely to feedback, so if we get a bunch of feedback about the Spellblade falling behind other masteries, we will certainly bump it up in priority.

4 LP is not obtainable for around half of the uniques.

to use the 1 in 16 quintillion example, if each one of the total 8 billion people on this planet dropped one of this unique every second without rest, on average someone would drop a 4 LP one every 63 years.

nobody will ever ever drop one, this is completely pointless. they need to either go back and make these more realistic, or give us a way to improve odds through harder content (so that it becomes realistically possible if you just do hard enough content).

The section you quoted was saying that the unique effect is obtainable through that unique. The base version at 0LP. I wasn't commenting on the general chance to obtain any particular item with 4LP.

Well first one is on dummies, second is on a boss, bosses do have resists and what not. Dummy numbers are fine when comparing to other dummy numbers. If you do 2m on dummies you're likely exploding the bosses anyway.

Fun fact, bosses don't have resists, tons of the what not though.

This problem also requires human intervention. Humans report the issues and other humans take appropriate action.

Right click report is the first part of that.

Two and a half years ago you said the same thing about creating a way to report in chat, not trying to be a jerk here so please don't take this as an attack, I'm just wondering why it never happened in two and a half years.

Auto moderation is not the answer, chat filters are certainly not the answer, allowing reports and having someone read those reports and take action is the answer.

If you were to see the volume that automoderation picks up that is accurate I think you’d be swayed to agree that it’s beneficial. The volume of what would need to be moderated vs the size of our team is incongruent. Then there’s also the fact that it’s immediate, whereas moderation is inherently slow due to human response time. We’ll be bringing in more assistance there but even quadrupling our moderation folks wouldn’t be enough.

It has to be a pretty serious offense for a ban, like selling gold and spamming it in chat. Being helpful in chat I can assure you will not lead to an account ban
