Hear you loud and clear. On it.
So the API is available now, but as a "closed beta", e.g. with controlled access? And if so, is there any way we could request access, or is there still more time to pass until it is available for wider use?
Yea, closed beta is a good way to put it. I don't think we are accepting requests for access to it right now. I think we are still in 1.0 response mode. I'm not sure when we are going to start rolling it out wider but I would expect that to be a conversation that we have pretty soon. You could shoot support an email to let them know you're interested. I'm sorry I don't really have much in the way of specifics on it right now. We do plan to open it up more at some point though.
Ah, thank you for correcting me. I went back to check, and you are right. The reviews were indeed in regards to Tencent. I saw the year 2022 and didn't bother to properly check, my bad.
All good. The timing was pretty close.
Couple things:
In the forge UI, prefix/suffix is split on the vertical axis whereas on item tooltips and advanced item tooltips prefix/suffix is split on the horizontal.
The prefix/suffix nomenclature could be tutorialized when the forge is introduced in the campaign. Maybe in an opt-in 'extended' tutorial where it could give the player crafting scenarios and a couple of each rune and let the player use them while being guided and taught by an npc.
Kudos to the team for their launch and work over the weekend. I was able to play mostly without issue from late Wednesday right up through today. Had a blast and brought a few new players into the fold!
Cheers - this is exactly where I was thinking the best opportunity is as well. Additionally when you expand tooltips and see the prefix and suffix headers. Thanks FT!
Sorry to ask but any news on improving the tooltip for skills?
I play lightening blast. I can't really see how many times the ability can chain without any skillpoints. Then I have to go and count each point of added chain stacks "manually" in the tree and other skill tree that also gives chains. The problem is that I pick a talent that 1/2 the amount of chains and then it is important to know if you chain 9 times or 10, because I assume it rounds down so if I have 9 I get 4, 10 I get 5, 11 I get 5 etc etc. Would like to know to not waste a skill point going from 8 -> 9
Also when I add shock chance in the skill tree it does not show up on the character sheet and I cant hover over the skill to see the total shock chance with the gear+passives+skillpoints combined,
Kindest regards.
We want to do this and we’re just waiting to have the available dev bandwidth to do it. We have designs for a much more advanced character sheet but we’ll need to be able to throw a dev at it for at least a full development cycle without interruption. It won’t be for 1.1 but it’s in our development backlog.
is there a reason that apogee of frozen night does not work with upheavel totem when it's made cold?
Probably not recognizing that it's a totem at all. The above might possibly have just incidentally fixed that too.
I believe we have a networking layer change in the works that we believe will help this, though I may be incorrect on the underlying issue that is present. But let me grab a skills dev tomorrow when they’re awake and they can give a more educated take on it and how we plan to solve it.
Edit: Justin, one of our awesome gameplay developers, commented below with an explanation. We've also made these issues the immediate next thing he's investigating. Thanks for the callout!
Haha coming across this and seeing so much surprise and excitement… looks like we have a little UI/UX enhancement we should make to improve that understanding for players.
Thanks for being helpful to the community, u/RaindustZX!
Read moreYou guys are awesome for how active you are in the community, and I will definitely be leaving a positive review.
I have been playing ARPG my whole life, and I’m 40. I have not played all, and I have not play POE (tried it, was not having fun). All Diablo, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, and even games like Torchlight I have loved.
LE has a lot of new language to try to digest and other interactions between stats that interact differently than they do with other classes. It kind of just feels like a different language so far compared to other games. New isn’t bad, it’s just confusing for me so far.
Stat priorities and base stats, affix, suffix, it’s all a lot to wrap my head around. Diablo 4 I spent a ton of time looking at gear, but I understood what an upgrade was, it just wasn’t fun to do. So far with LE, I don’t even know what to look for on each item, so I’m just not even really spending anytime looking at stats and I’m just leveling, equipping random stuff th...
That’s good feedback on the affixes and prefixes/suffixes. That’s definitely genre-speak and I can already think of some opportunities to make that language less obtuse for new players. I’ll chat with my other UX minded designers.
For stats, you can start off by choosing some skills you’re interested in and check the scaling tags. Targeting those stats will start to give you a good offensive layer. For defense you can start to build health, armor, and resists and later you can start to create an additional layer of defense by selecting ward, block, endurance, etc. Typically choosing one secondary layer like this is a safer choice as you can focus on scaling it and supporting stats. Ex: ward retention
Worth noting that resists are simpler in Epoch than in most games in the genre and 1% of a resistance equals 1% less damage you’ll take from it. This means you don’t have to stress about keeping them at the maximum values (capping) them nearly as much as in some other ...
Read moreRead moreYeah, that's why I said it's "technically" meant for review bombing (as in off topic stuff, both negative and positive). It's supposedly an automated system that flags such spikes in reviews, then humans check if the flag was correct, then they get hidden. That is how Steam insists the system works, but nobody actually knows the specifics behind the scenes.
Last Epoch itself has an example of "off topic" review activity that got flagged and hidden by Steam. It's from back in 2022 when EHG announced that the Bazaar was cancelled and they hadn't yet announced a proper trading alternative. Things were very uncertain and many players took to Steam to leave a negative review, arguing that the Kickstarter promised an arpg with an economy/trade, and that they were no longer getting what they bought into, etc.
It's questionable if that was actually off topic review activity. It's questionable if that was review bombing. I have no opinion on it myself, I was there during th...
Server issues and removed features are on topic reviews in my mind. The off topic reviews that were removed were actually due to something else.
Edit: I guess it makes sense to say what it was actually for eh? We announced an investment from tencent in the company and reviews which mention this only steam considered to be off topic.
I really want to love this game. I’ve read tutorials on loot filters and builds, but I’m still just super confused and don’t understand what the hell is an upgrade and what isn’t.
Pretty much the response I’ve gotten is “go play Diablo 4 idiot” and while that’s great, I don’t find that game fun and the loot system / itemization is terrible. This game has been more subjectively fun for me, and I really want it to make sense.
Hey u/misSignal! Don’t feel bad about not immediately understanding itemization. We put effort into making that easier to pickup for new players, and new players to the genre, in the game via the ability to hover over stats in the character sheet, adding explanations to the in-game guide, etc. - however it can still be a lot to wrap your head around!
There’s a lot of great video tutorials that the community has made on this topic as well. I won’t point to any specifically as I don’t want to show favoritism in my position, but there are some really good ones that you won’t have to look hard to find.
Also, if you have any feedback on what is a bit harder to wrap your mind around it would help the team and me make improvements in-game for other new players like yourself. I come from a UI/UX backg...
Read moreI am going to create an in-game report right now, when I experience this issue, though, you are correct Sir, it seems not to be recurrent situation in every single scenario, therefore, I am going to open an in-game report as soon as I reckon the sudden FPS drop, THANKS once again for your openness to communicate with the community.
Thanks again for taking the time to give us the feedback. I know if you didn’t care about the game you wouldn’t take the time. Appreciate you
:)
Did they change Lagon to require you to hit the tentacles when you're up top? I died once or twice because I could have sworn you had to hit his face. Honestly this is why I really like LE. It's like one of my designs. I've been in it for so long and seen so many versions I have no idea what is in the final release.
There were so many bugs with having to hit the face
That’s friggen awesome. I guess the one thing armor doesn’t do is stop DoTs- correct?
I think DoTs are still 100% damage but there are certain affixes that allow armor to extend to DoT protection at reduced efficiency?
Correct, and we try to make it obvious whether a damage is damage over time or a hit.
I see you'r enjoying our new online services affixes!
Kidding - please everyone know that OP is making a joke here :)
Help us, /u/moxjet200. You're our only hope.
We’re hearing rumblings of FPS drops. When we have verified targets we’re typically able to address them very quickly. If you all can submit in-game bug reports when you find a specific skill, enemy, situation, zone, etc. that causes FPS issues tho it’s very helpful.
If there is believed to be a memory leak any additional information from people that believe they’re experiencing one, like if they’re doing echoes, using a certain class with certain abilities, etc. would be very helpful. Also the logs we get from in-game reports are very helpful in these situations.
Typically I’d just assign team members to investigate but right now there’s so many good verified targets we’re working on that have impactful positive outcomes that it would be hard to pull people off to go try to find these without a lead. We’re very very interested in this though.
If there are issues here it’s only a matter of time before we find and address them. Any additional info is appre...
Read moreArmor doesn't work differently for spells. Physical spells like rip blood and tornado apply armor at full effectiveness
Yeah, we don't distinguish between spells and melee attacks (or other attacks) at all for defences, so that players don't have to work out whether enemy abilities are spells or not. In some cases it's obvious, like an enemy swinging a sword is a melee attack and an enemy casting a fireball is a spell. However there are cases where it's not, like an enemy slamming a hammer into a ground and causing a lightning storm around the impact.
For player abilities we can just clarify in the tooltip, so it's ok for us to distinguish between spells and melee attacks when it comes to player's scaling the damage of their own abilities. But, we can't really have players read a tooltip for every enemy ability, so we just avoid that distinction having any gameplay impact for enemies.
In what workplace is it okay to browse Reddit and not the Last Epoch forums?
Edit: to be clear, I'm surprised that places that block sites don't block reddit, not that they don't block LE.
My work firewall has "gaming" meta tags banned but not reddit lol. Calm down.
