Is the idea to ship the current iteration with cinders to live with 14.1 or is there like a chance for a different version to show up in PBE?

It will be this version with maybe some tuning

We've tried this idea multiple times and it hasn't really panned out for the most part. (both for the original 2019 version and the recent version) Players get more irritated when the terrain is making their pathing worse/making them pay more attention to pathing around the map. It also didn't actually make gameplay more fun. If the current terrain doesn't work out, we have a lot of potential mitigations to make it less snowbally, but over time found that players enjoyed it more and more

Also, Deft is the only one still playing competitively from the Samsung Blue/White Exodus. How did you forget Jatt‽

No excuse!

it's more like it doesn't cost us anything to design it within the current constraints of the map. It's just the map, so it doesn't really affect whether we have to design around elevation or not.

Agree with the opportunity. In practice though, it is way harder than it seems to remove the height, on top of the art considerations. I'd estimate probably ~40% of the scope of this Season Start's Engineering and Art budget would be required just to flatten the map, because it would require re-architecting how the game is inherently structured on the backend.

We found a major bug with Quickplay right before the patch went out. We've disabled it and re-enabled blind pick while we work on the bug.

Without giving away product spoilers I can say from the technology side we can do things like 2023 much easier in the future : Soul fighter event, Arena mode, Nexus Blitz, Arena 1.5, Season change and a lot of large in progress things you have not seen.

We also expect to accelerate development even more next year. You can deduce from that what you will :)

Yep, there is all the money investment riot promised at the start of the year lmao

It takes a while to translate investment to making a thing, and it takes longer if you are investing in the tech that makes the thing faster, which is what we did. Too many devs playing Satisfactory :)

Still not the development velocity we want but it will only get better

a few minor clarifications for components I worked on, as there have been a few changes since this was recorded

  • Manual herald charges into towers does not deal extra damage. Instead it shields the player and spawns VoidMites (scaling with the number of VoidGrubs that team has taken)
  • The logic for the charge cooldown is unchanged - Herald gets one charge (manual OR normal), reset only when a nearby enemy tower/inhib dies
  • We expect top and mid to be less jungle influenced laning experiences, and bot lane to be about the same - and then once mid game rolls around we expect the map to be significantly more open for roams and rotations. Looking forwards to players figuring out new invade and roam angles and what places are key for warding and control

there are probably other small errors/inconsistencies (like the zhonyas statline)

Seems like this season will have the biggest overhaul ever in league.

We've been investing extra heavily in tools, workflows and map features this last year to make these kind of changes easier. Still lots of improvements to go but large high quality changes are becoming more feasible

If we are getting this for all eight players in a TFT game with their own remixes, can we once again allow DJ Sona to actually be a valid Ultimate Skin, and revert the changes made to it shortly after it’s launch?

We were told Her remixing of music was removed because lower end hardware was struggling with it when multiple other ultimate skins were in the game. And now that Vex increased the base requirements this shouldn’t be a problem, especially when we’re actively getting her mixing of music in TFT but more complex, and DJ Sona is even being featured as a prominent portion of Remix Rumble.

You are preaching to the choir. Over 400k mastery on Sona T_T

I can bring it up to the team to see if it's on their radar, but no promises.

Is that intentional or a mistake?

Not everything has names yet so some are just passive for now

This statline isn't real - please disregard. The actual statline is pure AP + armor.

So we have to use one ability from each book (damage, utility and control) in a spell rotation and decide which one is damage and which one is utility right?

Each subject has its own shared cooldown.

If you use QQ, QW, or QE, it puts Q on cooldown locking out QQ, QW, and QE. W and E are not put on cooldown by using QW or QE.

My requirements for next year's Worlds song and cinematic

  • Must be animated by Fortiche
  • Must be about Faker, centered around Faker, has Faker as the "Alpha" and the "Omega"
  • Must feature Foreign Air, and possibly Mako/Against the Current/etc
  • Track must divert away from K-Pop/EDM/Dubsteppy themes and have back-to-roots orchestral instruments and battle-drums

If next Worlds cinematic do not meet these criteria then I will cry and tell mom

I’d rather it be about Faker needing the support of his teammates to get back to the summit. The team had to come together around their leader, but they all needed each other.
