I would really like an explanation on why it would take a significant amount of ressources to have this champs in PvP. All the previous ones work in both: levels, decks, items and constellations are a lot of design space to change the power level

There are a lot of reasons but the biggest one is balance.

PvP design used to take 18 months for 5 champs, with an entire initiative behind it. We got that down to 12 months for 3 champs. Now, we are designing a new champ in less than 3 months with a smaller team.

A huge amount of that time and bandwidth was for balance in Standard. We see the worst outcomes for PvP in imbalanced formats. So we don’t want to release a new champ that’s not been balanced for PvP. And it takes a long time, because you’re not just balancing one card. You’re balancing the entire format (remember Azirelia?). And we don’t have the bandwidth to balance an entire format while also making our champs as fun as possible for our focus, which is Path of champions.

Really good news!! 4 new champions confirmed for this year. Wonder if a dev can answer the following questions:

Would you release like a champion road map for the upcoming champions? To have a rough idea of the cadence between new champions to LoR, champions in LoR not in PoC and champions in PoC without constellations.

An estimate on which patch will extend the caps to legend and champion levels?

Overall, such amazing changes and updates to the game!!

EDIT: for clarity

A roadmap is a good idea, but while we have a strong sense of roughly which champs we want during certain periods, a lot of things change rapidly and we often have to juggle things - so any roadmap we released would quickly get outdated. Anything more than a quarter out gets subject to the realities of live ops.

The cap extensions are coming up real fast - in fact, they were intended for this release, but life happened and they were pushed back.

4 new I believe means new to Path. One of those will be new to LoR overall but likely the other will be existing ones that aren't in Path yet

Nope, we mean 4 brand new to LOR entirely, not just Path.

Edit for clarity since I'm seeing other convos where people are mis-reading this: These will all be Path-exclusive champions.

I agree with this.

Loving this relic design. Useful on lots of different champions to tackle certain monthly mutators, and has a great bonus for heimerdinger and any future ones that care about tech. Doesn't feel like it's only good on heimerdinger, just feels like it's even better on heimerdinger. Awesome.

  1. It's bandle city in terms of resource requirement.

  2. His kit looks SO fun. I'm excited!

If you like Path, the updates are faster and bigger than they were when you left. By a lot.

They are silver star vessels.

Granted I suppose it would be low priority for now, but it would help with clarity a bit on what shards to use on other dual region champs.

Yep! There's a ticket for me to do that work soon

This is specifically relevant for Heimer, Teemo, Fizz and Lulu. These are the only four Yordle's without Bandle as their primary region (which appears to be the way they normally determine which region's currency get used, based on Morgana as well as Vex and Yuumi).

We don't necessarily use region order to determine region currency, it's just conveniently happened to line up that way until Heimer. Those four have BC second simply because they were released before Bandle City was a region in LoR

It’s one of the best relics for many champions. Might be even more impactful on non asol since base 4 star asol is so strong it barely needs to get stronger if you have skills. But the relic makes many, many different champions with higher costs stronger.

That’s a huge achievement! Congratulations!. It normally takes multiple months for people to get 70/70.

tPOC already has weekly quests and rewards. Maybe just need to rename to weekly vault the weekly pvp vault, because that’s what it is.

Another point, commissioning new art also takes a long time. Even if you ignore cost entirely, comissioning original art would probably delay the release by many weeks depending on artist availability and how many revisions are needed.

When I was on Hearthstone, a game with a huge budget, this type of delay was the biggest obstacle to releasing a cool new card as part of a bonus event or similar. When we did the Taverns of Time arena event, that was only possible because it reused art from the World of Warcraft TCG. Designers often have cool ideas that need card art, but waiting for new card art would take forever - so they can reuse existing art to get the mechanic in the game. It's just much more noticeable in LoR because the base art quality is so high.
