Definitely built for drafting, yes.

Just realized there's no mention of the 64bit client. Would really like to know if we are still expecting that with this week's update. /u/WotC_Jay any word?

Yup, nothing's changed there. 64-bit client will be releasing with this update.

I and /u/jfb1337 found a legit bug. It appears that Monstrous Step incorrectly works with extra combat phases. The specific requirements are wiped.

Ticket: https://feedback.wizards.com/forums/918667-mtg-arena-bugs/suggestions/40714879-blocking-requirements-are-implemented-incorrectly

I think that non-specific requirements (Declare Dominance and Emergent Growth) work correctly, but yet unable to confirm it for sure.

EDIT: Declare Dominance appear to be working, but Emergent Growth is bugged

Thanks, it looks like a fairly straightforward bug with the "block" and "must" verbs. The rules changed in Ixalan and I guess we never noticed. #wotc_staff

Apparently that MTGA is smart, but is mistaken about some things. We can fill the nerdiest bug report ever

Lemme put it this way: we know. Just because rules-correct is NP-hard doesn't mean we should bend over backwards to solve it. We have some simpler heuristics that determine whether we allow you to submit your blockers given the block-requirements. #wotc_staff

But this was an issue at the start of the day too.

Thanks for following up. We’ve been working to identify and solve an issue that causes this behavior for a couple days now. We just fixed at least a good chunk of it, but it sounds like not for your case.

It would be very helpful if you could reach out to support so they can get the information we need to dig in further here. Mention that it’s likely you friended someone that played in the PT and that should get it to the right people.

Sorry you’re running into this problem; we’re working to get it solved.

We just (like, 5 min ago) fixed a server-side issue that could cause what you report. Could you check again? Also, did you happen to friend someone that played in the PT last weekend?

In preparation for Standard rotation, we will be updating the in-game Welcome Bundle to include Core Set 2021 booster packs when the set releases on June 25, 2020 in MTG Arena.

To prepare for this change, the Welcome Bundle will be unavailable for purchase starting the morning of June 24, 2020 (PT).

As a general reminder, players may only purchase the Welcome Bundle once regardless of the booster pack contents. If you previously purchased the bundle during Core Set 2019 or Core Set 2020, you will not be able to purchase it again.

More information on changes related to Standard rotation will be available in next week’s State of the Game.

Maybe, "Escape - BB, Sacrifice two creatures."

Curious -- was there any consideration of basically doing a reprint that might update the phrasing in such a way that the rules engine would understand it?

ie, could Scourge of Nel-Toth simply read "Escape: BB, Sacrifice 2 creatures"?

I'm asking from a mostly curiosity standpoint, I'm not arguing that it should, even if the exact same effects were available with differently wording the cards.

Just wanting a little insight into what sorts of things go on :-)

ie, could Scourge of Nel-Toth simply read "Escape: BB, Sacrifice 2 creatures"?

This would mean that the creature had escaped when it enters the battlefield. It's easy to imagine that's unimportant, however:

  • Infinite Reflection enchanting Polukranos, Unchained on the board.

While this interaction can't happen in Arena, that doesn't mean that it never will, and software is already complicated enough without having little landmines strewn throughout. So, to that end, we value rules accuracy above almost all else. We can, and do, make small changes to text behind the scenes, but we require that these are semantically identical. In this case, I don't know that there was a semantically identical way to phrase this that would work.

What would you word it to?
