Welcome back, we’ve got an update for you.

Finally, the VR update is amongst us! Rejoice!

There's loads to unpack here for our VR players, as well as some little nuggets of content for everyone else. But fear-not ghost hunters, the 'Custom Difficulty' update will be soon approaching, and it's a big one... There's also a small update coming even sooner than that! Now, onto the patch notes:



An entirely new VR system has been incorporated into Phasmophobia!

This means better VR performance, smoother interactions and input, as well as fixing all bugs and issues caused by the old VR implementation.

Welcome back, we’ve got an update for you.

We’ve been experimenting with some new methods of game design, and have decided that this will be the final update for Phasmophobia.

We will be swiftly moving on to work on a new project named ‘Phasmophobia 2’, entering Early Access March 31st 2025 and releasing April 1st 2025.

  • Lighthouse
    • Small location with 8 rooms
    • A lighthouse located on a remote island in the middle of a hazardous sea
    • Players can complete maintenance on the light and tower for bonus rewards

We've had great response from players about the last update, but we've found that Hantu were still not fast enough unless it was snowing. We've kept the lower speeds the same, but increased their speed when the fuse box has been off for some time during all weather.
  • Hantu can no longer turn on the power, as this would stop them accelerating

Welcome back ghost hunters, we've got some news for you.

In light of the most recent Discord Poll, we’ve decided to experiment with being more transparent in writing patch notes when we update the game.

Specifics are found in spoiler tags, this way you can enjoy reading patch notes normally and spoiler free as before, or you can deep dive into the numbers and fine tunings of each update.




Some of the ghosts still weren't sitting quite right after our recent overhaul, so we've gone back and made additional changes to those that were suffering the most #justiceforbanshee

  • Increased the chance for ghost events on small maps
  • Significantly reduced the distance that paranormal sounds are heard away from the ghost's location with the Parabolic Microphone so that they are now near the ghost.
  • Push to talk will now enable when playing solo if you have the option selected instead of forcing your microphone always on
  • The hunt will now end if you glitch outside of the level after the hunt has started
  • The Asylum toilet cubicles doors will now all start closed to make it easier to find the ghost if it is in those rooms
  • Ghosts should no longer appear in non-ghost photos taken by other players
  • You can now only get a 2nd ghost photo when there is no other evidence in the photo

  • Foggy weather has been temporarily removed while we work on a new system and will return looking better than ever with the VR rework early next year
  • All Cursed Possessions will now only have *one* spawn point each, meaning only 6 spawns in total per map to learn. Finding them will be more intuitive too e.g. Summoning Circle found in basements or attics
  • In Prison, Asylum and School; Cursed Possessions will be placed only in the *first* room to make them more useful
  • Demon’s description has been updated to better reflect its weakness
  • The Yurei ability will now only close one door, instead of all of the doors near the ghost
  • Yurei should now stay in their room more reliably when smudged
  • Hantu will now always have Freezing Temps evidence guaranteed on Nightmare

  • You can no longer ask the ghost to play hide and seek with the Ouija board during a hunt
  • Voodoo Doll heart pins will now trigger the hunt instantly, instead of after the animation
  • Several improvements with how the ghost navigates to you during a hunt
  • Hantu’s freezing breath will now only be visible in freezing temperature rooms
  • The ghost can no longer choose Asylum hallways or staircases as it’s favourite room
  • The mirror’s view into the ghost’s room will now keep rotating instead of resetting each time you look at it

Welcome back, we've got some news for you.

Several sightings have been noted of cursed objects, in locations where a ghost is haunting. These must be the cause of ghosts being trapped there. You might be able to use these to your advantage, but be careful, we don’t know what they’re capable of.

We’ve also had reports of a strange new ghost type.




Several new items have been added: The Cursed Possessions.

Each location will feature 1 of 6 items, randomly chosen at the start of each contract. There are several spawn points for each item, so get searching!

Cursed Possessions trade sanity for information, but be warned; using these items can cause an additional negative effect, so think carefully if you want to anger the ghost for the rest of the investigation.
