All PC servers will come down tomorrow on Friday, November 20, at 6:00 AM PST (3:00 PM CET) for our 8th Anniversary game update! Full patch notes will be available on the forums in advance of the update, and you can check out the details at planetside2.com. We anticipate tomorrow's downtime will last up to 3 hours, and will inform you as soon as servers are back online with the update.

I think this is precisely what they wanted with this bundle: unless I'm mistaken, these are all plasma-based weapons, like the Halberd SE.

The reason they are not making actual laser/beam weapons is that the effect would be supposedly very underwhelming, but this might just be rumor.

Originally, the Lasher used to be a beam weapon in alpha, and IIRC the Maw was also going to be a beam weapon, but the idea was eventually scrapped for both, because of how unconvincing the end result was.

Oh ya.. Speaking of the Halberd SE...

We'll get there. It's been a little rough when we've got NSO to worry about, but once that faction's arsenal gets filled out, we'll be able to do cool variants for faction weapons, instead of needing to fall back on common pool stuff.

Hey. We've gone more than 5 years without an NS-15M. I think we're overdue for a really cool looking and sounding version of one of the best common pool weapons in the game.
