No this is not the case.
As other comments have pointed out, log out of your jagex account in the launcher and your boyfriend can happily log into his jagex account.
There is no "1 device, 1 account" in action and no plans to do so.
Awesome thanks again, I'll make sure to leave some feedback, it's honestly been a great process for every other aspect and a much appreciated security change. Just caught me by surprise not being able to remove the accounts, just hoping to at least be able to archive them one day down the road haha!

Okay awesome thank you for the response, would be great to add a warning then when adding a new account that it is irreversible so other people don't make the same mistake i did :)
I would argue the marketing and information provided implies this.
Included here and off the top of my head the text during the upgrade process mentions it too.
I don't think we have ideas to point this out more, though if you give feedback via the launcher it will be taken on board. Jagex accounts will be mandatory in the future, upgrading should be something you are happy to do especially with how much feedback we've been getting for years about account security!
We really need an option to remove them completely, even if it means removing them and giving them their own jagex account. please
As a player, I don't see why you need the ability to remove an account. Archiving an account would stop it from being in your character list and you would no longer see it impacting your account or "bothering" you.
If you want to remove an account to share it or sell it, sharing accounts and selling accounts remains against the rules.
Just posting as a reply hoping you see this, any plans to let us remove characters from our jagex account? I added a couple suggested ones I hadn't seen in a long time to check them out but I don't want the accounts and I don't want them there in my option menu every time I select an account :(
No plans to remove, we're listening to feedback on this and some sort of "archive" feature was discussed for RuneScape characters but nothing concrete or "coming soon" AFAIK.
Yes, can confirm that you can get shards from all beach activities.
Restart the Launcher, it will then logout of your old account (if it doesnt, manually do it), it should then prompt to login again, you can use the username and password you just setup, or any of the linked things, such as gmail or Facebook

Old credentials are removed when you upgrade and you cannot login with your 'Jagex Account name'. This is only used at this time so you can identify legitimate communications from us.

Timer wasn't reduced it ran from the 19th till the 29th. The dxp page on the website had said 2nd due to an error which was updated to resolve, it was broadcasted as running from the 19th-29th in the newspost.
Speaking with the team you still get KC if the buff procs it's things like enrage/hiscore/kill times that aren't counted.
So this means you should be able to do group content and not have to worry unless you are specifically going for things like Zamorak enrage pushing with a team and in that case you can turn them off to continue your enrage grind

To give Doom credit his stats are higher, those stats are a random F2P account I have around for ingame screenshots sometimes

This was something that folks went back and forth on and with the option to turn the buffs off it was felt that leaving it up to player decision was the path of least resistance, now note I said least not no resistance, there is going to be plenty of opinions and discussions about the exact best way to implement this event for each type of player but in this version it is now in the hands of the players to decide how they personally engage with this.
If you only care for the cosmetic you can turn the buff off at the Wise Old Man straight away and go about your day no further thoughts required.
Just an aside as I see folks talking about the logout extension, this would not be connected to completing the event in anyway (as it is not implemented yet and would be coming in August, fingers crossed) it would be a feature of Jagex accounts when it is implemented.
