I don't think that the game is properely identifying my integrated cpu, it keeps on crashing saying there is a device error. Does anyone know a fix?

Thank you for sharing this! I've been seeing this more frequently here in the discussions and reported to the team. Are you experiencing low fps drops since the recent update as well?

Also, please submit a ticket to support so we can help there and look into this issue further >> https://support.ubi.com/en-US/Games/2559

Most crash reports that we are receiving involve one of the following reasons:

- Outdated mods
- Old VGA drivers
- RC Transport send to collect Waste Rock (in savegames made prior Armstrong update)

Are you seeing a message or error codes? Also, what's happening when you're trying to reconnect?
over 4 years ago - Avanya - Direct link
It could be you are running out of available memory. If you get a crash with a popup, it mentions a folder with logs. Both the output log (player.log on Mac and Linux) and the error.log file are really useful in figuring out what's up. If you can upload them somewhere and drop a link here, we can take a look and see what's happening.

Steam doesn't have an option for that, so you'll need to use some other site. Cloud drive services like Dropbox, Google Drive or One Drive are an option, but there's other places too. This guide has some more suggestions listed.

If you can't get anywhere to work, you can always make a post on the official support forums. They let you attach files directly, so you won't need to rely on any cloud drive to upload the file to.

Hey PauseMaster,

Thanks for your response there and I am sorry to hear that issue persists.

Just to double-check, do you possibly use BitDefender? If so, can you try disabling the 'Protection Shield' from BitDefender (just for the time being), to see if game still doesn't launch? Also, if you do not have BitDefender but have some other antivirus software, could you try whitelisting both Uplay PC and Rainbow Six Siege, to see if that helps at all. Please do make sure to switch your security back on after you try this.

Hey @D3monicPepe, thanks for getting in touch, welcome to forums and sorry to hear about the issue you've been dealing with.

Just to check, do you happen to receive any error messages at all? Also, what version of OS are you using?

In the meantime, if you haven't already, for troubleshooting purposes, give the following steps a go, starting of by verifying your game files first, and see if it helps.

Keep us updated!

Appreciate your swift response there.

Did you have a chance to go through steps mentioned earlier? Also, what is the GPU you're using?

Your original save should remain untouched?

@d3monicpepe All right. Thanks for confirming that! Since you have done those steps, I recommend gathering your MsInfo and DxDiag files. Once you have those, open a ticket with us on our Support Site and then upload those files for us so that we can get a deeper look into the cause of these crashes. Another useful thing to try would also be verifying your game files, as this finds and fixes any corrupted files that could be messing with the game.

Please try this:

- uninstall the nVidia driver and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install Feb 2022:
www.nvidia.com

Download the latest official NVIDIA drivers

Download the latest official NVIDIA drivers www.nvidia.com - reboot again

Now test with a new campaign - any better?
over 2 years ago - AndrewT - Direct link
That's very odd, hard to see any explanation for that!

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

ogoundry said: If anything I've noticed that the game seems to run much worse with the Royal courts update. With constant frame drops which usually cause a crash. Whereas before this update there were never performance problems.
If you revert to 1.4.4 and disable Royal Court, does good performance return for you?

You have several LiveKernelEvent and Bluescreen entries in that dxdiag. Are those related to this game or something else?

Please edit that pdx_settings.txt file. Find the renderer entry and change DX11 to OpenGL , save and exit. The game will be slower but does that prevent the crashes?
over 2 years ago - AndrewT - Direct link
ogoundry said: After reverting to 1.4.4 there are still frame drops when zooming into the map etc which I'm pretty sure didn't happen before.
If 1.4.4 is crashing now when it did not before, that pretty clearly shows there is an issue on this machine that's occurred since then to cause this for you. What that issue is, is not at all clear to me! It seems the graphics area is mostly ruled out by your openGL outcome.

Did these bluescreens only start happening at the same time?
over 2 years ago - AndrewT - Direct link
It's not impossible. If you have GeForce Experience loaded, please unload it before starting the game.

If that doesn't help, edit that pdx_settings.txt and change the renderer part as follows:
"renderer"={
version=0
value="OpenGL"
}
That will be slower, but for the purposes of testing does it still crash?

Hey @callmegrizo, and greetings to the forums. I am sorry that you see this behavior in Rainbow Six Siege when trying to play. It sounds like you continue to get caught between the starting screen and the main menu before the crash. Try verifying your game files to see any issues with an update or installation. After trying this first, you are still seeing the same problems, make sure that your graphic card drivers are updated. Don't hesitate to get back to us here if you have already exhausted all possible steps shared or create a support ticket with your MSINFO & DxDIAG so we can continue to check out the issue closer.

over 2 years ago - Ubi-SpaceCats - Direct link

@callmegrizo Hey there! Sorry to hear you're getting this error. This message usually indicates that you have a corrupt .DLL file. To remedy this, I'd suggest updating your Visual C++ Redistributables using our guide here.

If your error persists after this, please reach out to our Support Team via our Support Website, Twitter DMs, or Facebook PMs with copies of your MSINFO and DXDiag, as well as a description of the issue (you can even send a link to your post here). Once received, our teams will be able to look into this further with you.

If you're contacting through Facebook or Twitter, please make sure you're including the username and email address associated with your Ubisoft account. Our teams there will have to link your account before you're able to upload your files. Thank you!

@thebrain08 Hi there! I am sorry to hear that Rainbow Six Siege is crashing for you on your PC. Thank you for the steps you have already tried! Just to double check please give this guide a try for any steps you have not yet completed as well as disabling any background applications that may be causing the game to crash. If this does not help, please create a support ticket with our team and provide them with your Msinfo and DxDiag files and we'd be happy to further investigate the crashing for you!

over 2 years ago - Ubi-Karl - Direct link

Hey @TheBrain08, thanks for the update there.

I've had a closer look at your case and can see that it's being handled by one of our regional teams, therefore we will proceed with any further communication regarding this via ticket itself.

Should you happen to have any further queries or run into any other difficulties, do not hesitate and reach out at any time!

over 2 years ago - AndrewT - Direct link
Understood. Can you try what I suggested in my previous post please? That will clarify if it is indeed a DirectX11 error as it seems, or something else.
over 2 years ago - AndrewT - Direct link
OpenGL is a slower and less polished video standard than DirectX. We're just using it here for testing purposes.

The fact it made some difference but didn't completely fix it is about the worst possible outcome of that test ... ! Damn.

it's disturbing that even changing settings causes crashes and freezes. This is only since openGL or it was like that before?

Are these issues since openGL being registered in dxdiag.txt?

A LiveKernelEvent happens when the machine is forcibly rebooted or downed - that is happening in association with this game?

You may find entries in the Windows Event Viewer in the few minutes leading up to them.

The two game crashes we see in there are in your nVidia driver:
+++ WER1 +++:
Fault bucket 1295054024425763410, type 5
Event Name: BEX64
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: ck3.exe
P2: 1.0.0.0
P3: 62334448
P4: nvoglv64.dll
Which is disappointing as we've already done a clean reinstall upthread here, although with a previous driver version.

All this is starting to point to a Windows or hardware problem, I have to say!
over 2 years ago - AndrewT - Direct link
ogoundry said: When CK3 crashes it only crashes to desktop, it doesn't force the PC to restart.
Then the LiveKernelEvents are separate. Still a problem though!

ogoundry said: How would I be able to identify which piece of hardware or windows has problems?
That's a larger question than I am qualified to answer I'm afraid. As I said, You may find entries in the Windows Event Viewer in the few minutes leading up to them.

ogoundry said: Could the LiveKernelEvents refer to me reinstalling Nvidia drivers that force a PC restart?
No, as that's a requested reboot rather than a forced one. LiveKernelEvents happen when you hold the power button down to force a hung Windows session off, or switch the machine off pull the power cord out while still in Windows.

Hey there @SirFox_TM,

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing crashed when playing the game.

Have you tried any troubleshooting yet?
If not, I would recommend having a look at these steps.

If you could also provide us with more information? As @mertanian mentioned (thank you by the way).

Please let us know if you need more assistance regarding this. 😊

So hang loose while I move you over there.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.
