Most likely you are indeed running out of available memory. First expand your Windows paging file maximum size to 32gb

Optional: Increasing the paging file size on Windows computers

On computers that have 8 GB of RAM, the suggested paging file size is 16 GB. www.ibm.com ... Read more

Some crashes in the AMD driver shown in there (not apparently to do with the game as such), so let's do a clean reinstall

- uninstall with this https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx
- reboot
- install the latest http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- reboot again

THEN Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

This is a current bug I'm afraid - it's not yet clear whether it is with the game, DLC or Steam. Affected users tell us that running a Steam Verify operation will fix it for the next time you play the game, but needs to be done again after each play session.

Valve and Paradox will be working on this again Friday their time.

Sorry about that!

"setting_framerate_cap"={
version=0
value="off"
}
Did you set the cap to 60, as I suggested? If not please try that.

Either way what fps do you see in the game now?

The other issue is you are critically short of free space on both your drives. In particular there is not enough space on C: for Windows to do any more swapping out. Windows' boot drive should have at least 10% free space. In your situation I'd see if you can get like 50gb free, then up your paging file max size to say 32gb

Lots of mod errors in there. Does this happen in a galaxy that's never had any mods used in it?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

I've seen no other such reports.

Does this happen in a new save started under the current patch, or only an existing one from an older game version? Or both?

Proferno00 said: I have this problem. Intel Macbook Pro 2019 and I used to specifically play on OpenGL because the game on Vulkan did not get past the loading screen. Since the recent update I can't switch to opengl in the launcher anymore, what do I do now? Get an eGPU?
That, or use a service such as GeForce Now, are the only options I can think of for you.

Alright, that's where local saved games should go. Do you see them there okay, plus the game's settings files etc?

I see in your launcher screenshot above you are not logged into our launcher. Can you log in to it okay?

Unluckily, your PC freeze must have happened while the game was writing out a save file. So it will be incomplete and unusable, I'm afraid.

If this is not an Ironman game, just revert to the previous autosave. If Ironman though, I'm afraid that galaxy is far far away lost! Sorry about that.

Right click on Documents in the left column of File Explorer, just under This PC there. Go to properties, location. What does it say there?

So this is the end of the road for my macbook pro and CK3. :)
Kind of dumb.
I am sorry about that. But it's basically down to good luck that the game ever worked on Intel video on Macs, as that hardware was never supported since the game's release.

This will NOT be the same problem as your hardware is completely different to the OP's.

Please start your own new thread, with full problem details and history. Thanks.

This game uses the Nakama MP service, and those are not known problems with it.

Your friend's issue seems confined to them, is that right? You don't get that particular problem? They should run up a VPN if they have one, before starting the game. If that helps, they probably have a firewall or ISP problem.

You could try the same for your issues too!

If those saves are from the 1.10.x patches, you'll need to revert to that version in the steam betas tab for the game, to finish them. However that obtains whether local or cloud.

If howeverthey were started under 1.11.x then it can really only be they are so corrupted the game does not recognise them as valid saves.

Z-Prodigy said: Local saves seem to work but then all my achievements are gone.
That should absolutely not be the case, they ought to work the same regardless of where the save file sits. Has this always been the case... Read more

Windows is set up to store your user documents on OneDrive, which is MS's cloud service. That ought to work but needs OD to be running, and syncing perfectly, and you to be online.

If you did not want your documents to be stored up there you should reconfigure WIndows to sue the previous default of C:/users/{userName}/Documents .You'll probably find that will fix this problem.

All the best!

Does your Mac have an Intel video system? If so this game will no longer run on it I'm afraid! If that is the situation all you can do is revert to 1.10.2
