It runs on my Ubuntu 22.04.1 installation just fine. What distro and version do you have?

version=0
value="off"
}
Did you set the frame rate cap? If not please try that.

And, what fps are you seeing in the game? We are trying to restrict it to 60.

Updated video card driver first.

Windows 11, using CK3 Quill version. Deleted all mods, and uninstalled / reinstalled. Paradox crashes right after hitting play in Steam If I uninstall Paradox Launcher and then run it in Steam, the Paradox Launcher re-installs and the game works. Once I close the game I have the same issue.

Same as OP, in regards to not having an exceptions.log file. Also looked in Event Viewer and did not find any more information. I can run the ck3.exe file directly and with success, but not the parado...

Please find attached the files. There was no exceptions.log file unfortunately.

Best regards!
I see nothing about ck3.exe in that dxdiag, only the launcher. What happens if you run ck3.exe directly from file explorer?

I've just installed and successfully run Stellaris 3.9.3 on my Ubuntu 22.04.1 installation, even though it's a VM and so doesn't have a supported video system.

The two stack traces above are completely different - one in Libc, one in the Steam overlay apparently, so I suspect they have unrelated causes. Try disabling the Steam overlay as a start.

AND if you are using the flatpack Steam or any other such thing, try the properly Steam client instead:

We see some LiveKernelEvent entries in dxdiag there. They happen when Windows is forcibly downed; have you see those happen? Are they related to this game or something else?

Has this game ever worked on this machine? Or never yet?

I see you have the bare minimum of memory for this game, so please unload every other app you can before starting it.

In the game's video options, make sure you have Vsync On and fps limited to, say, 60 . Does that help?

Any fps of 20 or more ought to be adequate for a non-acton game like this. Stuttering however is a problem of course.

Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Edit that settings.txt to say:

refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no

vsync=no

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode.

IF that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file ... Read more

Pretty clearly a game bug, so please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach that save file there for QA to look into. Thanks!

If this galaxy was started under a previous game version, it may be a version compatibility issue. Try reverting to that older version and load the last save that version wrote - any better?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders - In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

THEN Right-click on stellaris.exe, properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullscreen optimizations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply, and exit.
Then in the ... Read more

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

This game is not supported on the standalone Paradox launcher, which was only ever meant for non-Steam users anyway.

Having bought a Steam edition you'll have to play it from Steam, I'm afraid!
