I don't know if those errors are related to your crash or not. Your hardware looks to be adequate for the game though.

We cannot help with modded games here so please disable ALL Mods while we work on this.

Do you now have a save that reliably shows this problem?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings III/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III/ .

I'm not seeing any other such reports now. Is this still an issue for you?

I'm afraid openGL is not longer supported in this game

Deprecation of OpenGL Support for MacOS and Linux

Hello everyone! We're announcing today that with the release of Wards & Wardens, Crusader Kings III will no longer support the OpenGL renderer on MacOS and Linux as we shift our focus towards better support for the Vulkan rendering API. ... Read more

I take it you mean Wards and Wardens, and that DLC does not show in our launcher - is that right?

Is the game now on 1.1.0.1 ?

If so Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

KCalo said: For those of us who have no idea what this technobabble means, it will still run on Mac?
It will ... if you have supported video hardware, which is to say AMD. I already have one case where the game will no longer run on Intel video hardware on a MacBook Pro.

Apple Silicon is strictly speaking not supported hardware either, but does run Vulkan just fine (via Rosetta) so should still work.

The 1603/1605 errors we see there are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec OR Paradox Launcher running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that? You can use this MS tool to clear the stuck install/uninstall:

Fix problems that block programs from being installed or re...

Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Edit that settings.txt to say:

refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no

vsync=no

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode.

Does that help? If not, Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

As the dlc does not show as ready in your Epic account, of course the game cannot make use of it.

I'm sorry to bounce you around but this is clearly an Epic problem - it is their job to get your purchases from their store into your Epic account and so available to the game! We have nothing to do with any of that.

CK3 uses the Nakama MP servers, whereas all those others use the Steam MP servers by default. EU4 and HOI4 can be told to use Nakama instead.

My point being the issue is not in the MP servers, it seems. Nor is it in the game code over that huge timespan! This is very likely to be some issue local to you, perhaps your network or ISP.

If you have a VPN try running that before starting these games, which will bypass any firewalls in the way.

Otherwise if you can try from another machine on this same network,OR this machine on another network, that would be a good test.

The reason is that launcher is installed when you first run the game. Nothing to do wth Steam.

The new launcher does not run on old MacOS versions. Can you update to 12.x or later with your hardware?

It must be the launcher, as if it were the file system eu4.app would have the same problem, I'd say. However you could run a First Aid against the volume.

Has the game ever worked on this machine? Or it has always been like this?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

I've seen 4 other reports of this today, all on the Epic edition, so I'm sure this is an Epic issue.

Please contact their support on this, and say that it is only happening to Epic customers.

Good luck!

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters
Go to Windows Control panel.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
Click on Change adapter options.
Right-click all network adapters that are not connected to the internet and select the Disable o... Read more
