as long as my Antivirus is running, no mods.
As above, if you except the game and launcher .exe files it should work. You may need to contact Avast support to get that set up right.

Here's an expanded process that should now fix this:

- unsubscribe from all mods
- delete the folder Documents/paradox/CK3/mod/
- delete the file Documents/paradox/CK3/mods_registry.json
- delete the file Documents/paradox/CK3/launcher-v2.sqlite

Add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list. You should add steam.exe and C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.1/paradox launcher.exe to that list.

- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

Does anyone playing the game use the MP 'helper' utility GameFirst? If so they need to unload it before playing our games.

EcrofLeinad said: Yeah, this is the same thing that happened in January. They released an in development launcher (version 2020.17). They "fixed" the issue by re-releasing 2020.16 (although the folder/files downloaded said 2020.17.1). 2021.1 appears to be the same exact launcher as 2020.17 with all of the same Steam Workshop Mod related issues. Gaelliss said: Hi, I’m having the same issue on Mac (lake visibility) and I can’t find the lake mod anymore on the link above.
I can’t find it as well in mods library when the game is launched.
You might try contacting @ChoGGi_2 directly in the Steam workshop - good luck with that!

If that doesn't work let's try a clean reinstall of the launcher too.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Quite a few errors in that log, not sure if they are 'normal' or not ... let's try a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mods_registry.json
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I assume this is a side effect of the new launcher, although I saw no such issue myself. I guess a restart from scratch is called for:

- unsubscribe from all mods
- delete the folder Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mod/ (after moving your local mod files elsewhere of course!)
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mods_registry.json
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

That version uses a different stellaris.exe which will need to be let through all firewalls separately to the standard one.

IF IT USED TO RUN:
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.

Please unload GeForce Experience and test the game again - does it still have this problem?

And, why are you running the game in openGL mode? That is always slower than DirectX, please undo that.

Right click on the game in the Steam library, properties, betas. Click on the drop list there, stellaris_test is the last one listed.

Are you sure you did the clean reinstall as I described? Because that error.log really looks like a corrupted installation, or a bad mod in use. Make sure for these tests that all save games, mods, and user_empire_designs.txt are all our of the way while we work on this please.

The Windows error c06d007e that we see in that dxdiag is not one known to me. please go here:

How can you have disabled OneDrive on MacOS, if I can ask? I thought it was Windows only.

So you never see our launcher, is that right? If that is the case, AND eu4.app does not start the game, you apparently have two separate problems.

LAUNCHER:
Let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package: https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/emailsignatures/2020.16-mac-prod.zip

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then delete the ~/Library/Applica... Read more

Your title says launcher failure yet all your text mentions game problems. Is it that you see the launcher okay but the game won't start from it? Or you never see our launcher?

What happens when you run stellaris.exe directly from Windows Explorer? Any Windows error show?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log .
