I'm not sure I follow, you said before the DLC have gone! They are back now?

What's the problem with the main game now? Where did you choose to install?

No clues in those files, although you've missed two of the other files I asked for.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders - In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisat... Read more

When you say 'an event' you mean host an MP game I guess?

If so, has this ever worked for you? Or it has always been like that?

Any mods involved?

Can you play MP okay when someone else hosts?

Cassilda said: Running the game in full screen for now hasn't caused any freezing.

When not playing, the CPU is 32-53 °C min and 49-53°C max and the GPU 46-50 °C.
After running the game for half an hour, the temperatures is for the CPU 35-37 °C min to 47-66 °C max. The GPU is 49-51 °C.
Okay, it may be it was overheating before. I hope that fixes it for good for you!

If you revert to the 3.7.x patches in the Steam beta stab for the game do you still get this issue?

[10:11:09][dlc.cpp:337]: Invalid supported_version in file: mod/ugc_2079926133.mod line: 16
Please disable ALL mods while we work on this.

I see several crashes in LightingService.exe which seems to be an ASUS utility that controls screen lighting. Please unload that, or prevent it from running at boot time then reboot. Do you still get this problem?

If so, in the Game Settings menu in our launcher disable Vsync and cap the refresh rate at 60, and leave it at fullScreen. Does that help when you alt-tab out and in?

This is weird because we have reports in the main forum here that folks WITH VPNs cannot get into the wikis! They disconnect the VPN and can get in okay.

Are you now opted into 3.6.x , 3.7.x or no beta at all?

Run ck3.exe directly from file explorer, to bypass the launcher. Do you see any Windows error then?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

After reinstalling the base game and the DLCs it seems even all DLCs have gone somewhere beyond reach, they are not in my xbox folder, even if that is where they were supposed to be installed.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam workshop for this game
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders - In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

- start the game with no mods active and test

Doe sit work okay now? If so you can then start subscribing to mods again, but ONLY ones that have been updated to work with the 1.9 patches.

Was this game started under the new 1.9.x patches, or previous ones such as 1.8.x ? If the latter, you should revert to that version in the Steam Betas tab for the game, to continue that campaign.

You need to be on game version 1.9.x for it to work - if you've opted into an older version you not be able to use it.

If that's the situation, opt out of all betas in the Steam Betas tab for this game.

Please each of you attach here a dxdiag.txt so we can see if your setups have something in common.

And I assume if you go back to 18.x. it is okay?

I, like the OP, have no issues with ck3, although there was a bug depending on whether I launched the game from steam or directly the game would stutter and have low framerate. I don't know if OP tried 1.30 because I had better performance pre-leviathan, but I know that's not a solution as the game has developed so much since then. I wonder whether it's the ageing game or an issue that is yet to surface. ...

Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Edit that settings.txt to say:

refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no

vsync=no

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode.

Does that help? If not, Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

I don't know what could cause that, the game runs fine under 13.3.1 (a) for me using the current game patch.

What if you run it from stellaris.app directly from Finder?
wilsong123 said: I did the trick with adding userdir.txt to the app directory, which removes that one error line
No need to do that. That 'error' is just the game's way of detecting if that file is in use, it won't help this problem I am sure.
