How can someone with the name Barack Probama be a lead game dev da f**k
Back in WC3 TFT days my friend and I played custom games with the names Fred Weasley & George Weasley. I forget what happened next but for some reason we lost control of those accounts.
We made a bunch of other paired names but eventually settled on BarackProbama and ProsephBiden, during their first run at the office. Back then, Pro meant you were good at the game, and noob meant you were bad at it. The names were supposed to indicate that we were both good and politically active.
I dunno and we just sort of kept them.

While we were writing the blog, /u/barackprobama sent over a graph that is not this graph. I mentioned to him that we could include it, but I needed it in an editable file format so it could be localized. Our loc teams don't have licenses for the tool he uses, so he had to go recreate it in a different program. Since this was all happening shortly before I needed to send everything off, rather than start from scratch he pulled the editable file from a previous graph. This graph. Which by some strange coincidence uses the exact same numbers as the gra...
The facepalm heard round the office.
Boy howdy this does sound annoying. Would be a shame if someone were to write a ticket proposing a fix for it right now. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
No promises on timeline, etc etc but this sounds like a nice little QoL update we could reasonably make when there's a quiet period.
I’ll fix this on Tuesday.
Not going to speak for the modes team but as the designer who owns champion select I can give a bit of context on why I think this would be challenging.
The intent of the % based buffs is to take champions who are primarily designed for other modes and bring them into line based on the conditions they’ll encounter in ARAM: To make them more fair.
They aren’t meant to be a major factor in your decision making process. If you displayed them on the champ select screen we’d probably see players biasing towards champions that have “buffs” or increased damage and reduced damage taken. After all, they’re stronger right?
But that would be a mistake! Champions with lower %s have those because they have other built-in advantages on ARAM like consistent poke or very high range. You could easily assemble a team comp with good %s that gets thrashed by a team with bad %s.
TL;DR: We don’t show them because they could be misleading.
Hey, from a programming/dataflow perspective, can you explain the complexity here?
If this data is available right before the game finishes (via hovering over your items), and the data is available again in replay tool right as the game finishes, then how is this meaningfully more difficult to fetch than other stats?
Does this imply that one of the two types of stats (champ stats vs. item stats) are actually being recomputed on the fly and then tossed away?
(Not trying to be difficult in asking this question.)
Sorry, I'm a designer. Actually don't know the particulars of this one! I just remember chatting through this with some engineers last season and seeing them come to the conclusion it would add a bunch of risk to the project. That's not to say we won't revisit this in the future. :)
Its a thing we want that would be pretty difficult unfortunately :(
One of the new systems we’re hoping to implement during the League of Legends Preseason 2022 is Challenges. Through the Challenges system, a player will be rewarded for all of the challenging (hehe), unique, and fun goals they achieve throughout their games.
Riot between 5 and 10 years ago: We will not be adding quests/missions/challenges/achievements that impact the gameplay because the only quest/mission/challenge/achievement is to win the match!
Yeah, right.
One of our goals with Challenges is that in the overwhelming majority of cases playing well will help you progress them. We take competitive integrity very seriously.
So after Eternals it's probably a dumb question, but... Will the Challenges be a free feature?
Challenges are not a paid product.
well, they are probably gonna make us pay for achievements, again. So technically they aren't really achievements in the traditional sense.
Challenges are free
Challenges look pretty pog, though are you able to share what achievement points are going to do
I am able to share that they should have been challenge points but I messed up the image.
U rang
Yep, this is on our radar! No ETA on when it will be changed (lots going on right now) but will confirm we are aware and agree that it's a good idea.
Aren’t you kind of handicapping it from the get-go if it’s so limited? I know I’d use it if it was all my friends list, but I’m certainly not gonna use it if it’s just the people in my lobby, so it seems kinda destined to fail.
Its not just the folks in your lobby, its actually all players on your friends list but it is available inside ranked lobbies.
Hello, are there plans to address autofill in Challenger elo?
Even just 1 fill can at times make the game nearly unplayable and there are days where you get 5 fill lobbies in a row, there is no guarantee the enemy team has fills either.
Would love to at least have this issue be acknowledged, it's especially awkward as an ADC main who might have to lane with a top laner at times (rarely ends well, even if things like fasting Senna help).
The work outlined in this article also applies to Challenger. We're investigating changes that would reduce the number of autofilled folks at the cost of players getting their secondary role more often.
A rank leaderboard amongst your friends
Cool!
limited to your lobby
Lame...
We're starting in the lobby, since most players enter lobbies and fewer visit the ranked page. We may expand and enhance it in the future depending on how reception goes!
smells like bullshit, i know lol codes are old as f**k and need a refont or a newly made game like Dota2 so u can struggle less on doing minimal changes like that because its just embarassing at this point
Lol, caught me. Donezo tbh
I'm holding my breath.
This is all lines up to be £ternal$ 2.0
Be ready for them to charged £10 for "one trick" tag.
Hell, even money to select your boarder.
No charges planned in this space.
That's the goal, they don't want you to dodge cause you don't like the teamcomp. I also dislike the mage/senna support against heavy dive enemy comp.
It is highly unlikely that most games are actually lost in champ select. Most games are lost when the nexus explodes.
