This is supposed to help the smurfing problem? wouldn't it keep smurfs down after some dumb loss, and make the problem worse? Why not flip the switch and award more SR for a win on new accounts? I honestly feel that, although not perfect, it's better, because if someone gets boosted to a higher rank than their skill or gamesense, they get pummeled and sent back down until they stabilize, and smurfs shoot right back up.

Hey there, this is a good question. The matchmaking system gains confidence in its evaluation of your skill as you play more games.

Because each time I pass over the next star threshold, I start getting into matches with complete beginners for a while.

Hey there, the matchmaker COULD be aware of the level of a player but it isn't something that we currently take into account when matchmaking.

The reason we don't specifically take level into account is because it's an indicator of time played on a specific account and not the skill level at which someone performs. While it is true the more you play the more skill you're likely to gain, it's also true that skill gain will be reflected in the matchmaking values as well.

with that replay in hand I actually tried a clean Windows install to see if that helped, and tried three different soundcards (including built-in standard intel onboard audio drivers, and same for nvidia HDMI audio)... no difference

Hey there, we've definitely worked through audio occlusion bugs in the past, but unfortunately there's not a single problem that solves all of the issues. Any time you encounter this if you can post detail on our bug report forums it really helps us dig into that specific issue.

We have temporarily disabled Razer Chroma support due to a common client crash. This functionality will be enabled in a future patch.

Hey folks, we investigated this issue and made some changes to try to alleviate the problem, and we expect to see some improvement over the next hour.

As some folks have mentioned in this thread, this issue is a result of internet throttling that is in place as a result of increased network demand during the pandemic. We appreciate your patience here, we’re committed to doing our best to avoid impact to you from these restrictions, sorry we didn’t get it 100% right this time.

Hey u/aurens and u/Carter_OW - I'll pass this along to QA and our sound folks. For the previous bug we had a way to reproduce the issue and verified before and after the change it fixed that particular scenario. Perhaps there's more to it though. Sorry for the hassle.

Hey there, we’re aware of the bug on the replay viewer, sorry for this issue. We’re working on an updated build for the upcoming games, unfortunately we’re unable to make the fix for games that were already played.

The new version will be released later this week as we lead up to the games for this coming weekend.

Cheers and apologies again for the bug.

Paging u/BillWarnecke to put this on his radar.

EDIT: solo queue competitive for support ended up being 12 minutes.

Thanks for the ping, should be better now, sorry for that

Hey there, we made some more adjustments and things should be back to normal. Thanks for the note, sorry for that. Cheers

Hey there. Our patch note release process is manual, and sometimes mistakes happen. We're still planning on releasing the Anniversary event on the date we have had scheduled, which isn't, and never was, today.

u/billwarnecke - I’m very active on this sub and there’s have been a LOT of posts and comments from users experiencing this same issue in the last couple of weeks. Some users have also mentioned reporting this issue on the Blizz forums as well with no response that I’m aware of. Is that this something on your radar by any chance?

Hey there, I made a note on another thread, just a bit ago. We looked into this and made some changes, thanks for the reports and sorry for the hassle. Let us know how it looks over the next few days. Cheers
