Hmm, another shot in the dark, but can you load in correctly in Modded realm? (chosen from the launcher options)

As EAC only applies to Official realm, this can help in identifying if the issue is EAC-related in some way.

If so, I recommend to next try adding Firewall and Anti-Virus exceptions for both Vermintide 2 and Easy Anti-Cheat:

You’ll want to ensure you have the following exceptions in place:

  • vermintide2.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries
  • EasyAntiCheat.exe in \Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat

Ah okay! Have you made any recent changes or updates to your PC?

It may also be worth trying a Selective Startup, which can help diagnose whether a background application is resulting in your issue. This can be performed by:

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC

If the issue no longer occurs after having performed the Selective Startup, try re-introducing your programs one-by-one to determine which is the culprit.

Hi @lacosmok,

Sorry to hear this.

I know you’ve mentioned reinstalling Vermintide already, but could you please try performing a clean reinstallation by also removing your AppData directory. You can find how to do this, here:

Hm, that’s really strange! That’s not an error usually seen when launching the game.

If you try to launch in Official realm is the game still crashing consistently?

If so, I recommend to try the following:

Add Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions for both Vermintide 2 and Easy Anti-Cheat.

You’ll need to add exceptions for:

  • vermintide2.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries
  • EasyAntiCheat.exe in \Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat

Perform a Selective Startup to determine whether a background application is interfering.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC

If the issues no longer occur after having...

Apologies! Darktide is DX12 only - my brain defaulted to a Vermintide support suggestion  M’bad.

Please try running through the performance solutions linked above.

It may also be helpful to check and disable any background applications that are running via Task Manager to see if anything is interfering, or to try a Selective Startup:

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC

If the issue no longer occurs after having performed the Selective Startup, try re-introducing your programs one-by-one to determine which is the culprit.

@Dagoth, @Hollyvvood
I’ve merged your posts here, as I believe you are both CenturyLink ISP users and that you are currently encountering this issue.

Unfortunately I have no immediate solution, but please be assured our Backend Developers are investigating to determine if this is an issue we can address our side, or whether the issue is out of our hands and with the ISP.

I’ll update when we know more!

Apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Hi @Indi,

Are you able to launch the game successfully in Modded realm? (chosen from the launcher options)

I ask this, because our Easy Anti-Cheat service only applies to Official realm - so this can help to identify if the issue is EAC-related.

Also, are any specific error messages being displayed on screen when the crash occurs?

Hi @InquisitorPetel,

Sorry to hear this. We are currently investigating a recent spike in occurrences of this Backend Error.

May I ask, what ISP do you use? and which region are you playing from?

Thanks!

Hmm, is there any difference if you try switching DirectX versions?

Or, perhaps running through our general performance solutions may help:

We’ve seen other similar reports of this error increasing over the weekend. I’ve notified our backend developers and we’re investigating.

It would be helpful to know the following:

  • Is the Backend Error persisting when trying to sign in currently?
  • Have you made any recent changes/updates to your PC? e.g. Windows update
  • Which ISP do you use, and which region are you playing from?

If you could also please provide us with your most recent console logs and darktide_launcher.log so we can look that would be appreciated. Both can be located in the Darktide AppData directory using the instructions below:

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide

Thanks in advance!

@SoftcoreGaymer
Sorry to hear that :frowning: as before, we haven’t made any recent network changes.

There are unfortunately so many reasons why these issues occur, and usually a process of elimination is required to identify why. It’s hard for us to identify the underlying cause on our end, due to the number of variables involved.

We aren’t receiving widespread reports currently, so I suspect this may still be a local/ISP issue. Though I do appreciate that you’ve already tried our usual solutions.

In any case, we’ll monitor connectivity closely and keep an eye on things our end.

As the issue has been ongoing for you a...

Our QA team have been unable to reproduce this. If possible, could you please share a video of the issue?

Thanks in advance!

Also, if you have any additional console logs you can share from sessions you experienced this crash, it would be good to take a look and see if there are any which don’t cut off  thanks!

Hi @Beauty,

Unfortunately, your console log cuts off and I’m unable to determine why this crash is occurring from it.

You’ve tried a lot of good potential solutions already. It’s a shot in the dark, but it may be worth giving a clean reinstallation of Vermintide 2 a go:

Hey @Picard,

Sorry about that - Experimental should be updated now! This was done around 15~ mins ago. It was slightly delayed due to the Slendergryn bug which we needed to fix.

Comment

@MaxSidetracks, thanks that confirms my suspicion as this issue seems to be primarily affecting (if not always) Offline mode players. Hopefully we’ll have this one resolved soon. Thank you for bearing with us!
