This is going slightly off topic for this thread but:

Agreed about the World Event scoring descriptions.
And some of the other things like the medal and other reward drop rates.

For the Vault weekends that’s one of those things where you’re not affected if you just play the game, you’ll encounter gnomes during your play time or you won’t regardless of their appearance rate. It’s just bonus rewards for spending time in game. We could mention something like “double or triple chance to encounter gnomes because of the Vault Event” (I don’t know the actual bonus chance off the top of my head) without mentioning the base percentages etc.

What I meant is that you shouldn’t be at a significant disadvantage if you don’t leave the game to find additional information and that definitely currently applies to Underspire and World Events.

The Reward drop chances would just bring things in line with ie the chest drop rates and such being visible in game so it’s als...

It’s impressive honestly the stuff you folks achieve working out the logic behind how the map is setup but this is currently a problem for every person in the game and the optimal strategy is only available to super engaged members of the community or those in the know.

There’ll still always be an optimal strategy which people can search the community for info on but it won’t penalise players so much for not going looking for that info as right now it’s pretty rough for them.

It’s not that I want to sabotage your work or make things harder for you, I know you’ll work out the optimal strategy quickly again after any changes are made, but also it means the 10s of thousands of players who don’t know about the strategy won’t be punished for not knowing it exists or where to find it.

In game design it’s best to make things obvious and fair for people just playing and strategies and guides are the cherry ontop for more engaged community members or hardcore players.

The team have all the info we could find so far about this, if they need anything new that we can’t pull from the logs directly, I will let you all know here.

Not your fault! I was super confused why the support link was hard to find so you solved the mystery haha

:sob: Adding this to my list of things… Seems all the header links for the website are missing from the minimalist forum theme. :sob:

it’s here, the support option should be available from anywhere on the website including at the top of the forums here  it’s also available in the game settings as well

Heyas, just popping in for 2 reasons:

Letting you know I’m following the discussion.
I’m a big fan of GW myself so keen to read what everyone’s thoughts are on how improvements could be made in terms of balancing and design.

Secondly, just need to remind everyone to please keep it civil - it’s ok to disagree with each other just please keep the insults out of it. I’ve removed the offending posts and messaged the users directly.

Thanks!

I’ve reported this to the team because it seems a bit mean to have a 20+ tile dead end. Also we should have some code to stop things getting too crazy like this already so it does seem possibly bugged - I’ll get more details.

oh good, I did try looking into it earlier as we had an issue with our PQ3 servers around the same time and when you can’t even reach our GoW status page that is highly suspicious that the issue was on our end, but I was unable to spot anything that should have caused the issue, so was planning to poke the team about it more on Monday, but if you confirmed ISP issues - well I’m not sure if that’s better or worse for everyone haha.

It always sucks for a lot of people when an ISP has issues but it sucks if it’s the game server with the issue too.

Thanks for letting us know.

We can trial it and if it doesn’t work we’ll review it again.
I think the requirements to become trust level 2 are too high if posts need to be flagged.
Another option is to lower the requirements to become trust level 2, but that also seems dicey.

I can also check the flags over the weekend and if it’s being abused I’ll revert the change and remove the flags.

Edit:

I’m going to test ban Bramble on Monday or Tuesday when we’re both working to see what’s going on with these emails, but I think I see where the break is.

I’m running out of time to contact people in this thread about their bans and deleted posts so I have added that to my to do list for Monday/Tuesday.

I appreciate all the info you folks have given, as well as the constructive way these issues were raised in this thread. Thank you for bringing this all to my attention.

Let’s not discuss specific bans here please. If you’ve written a support ticket we will answer it when we can.

Working on this stuff at the moment, so live update. I’ve made the following changes and am still digging around for these ban emails:

System messages now come from Kafka, not Saltypatra.
I won’t be the one sending all of them, the messages will automatically use my username, but at least the replies will come to me if there’s an issue.

Trust level changes to access features (old → new):

  • flag posts: 2 → 1
  • ignore users: 2 → 1

Promotion from level 0 to 1 now requires:

  • posts to be read for 10 minutes (up from 0 mins)
  • topics entered: 1 → 3
  • posts read: 1 → 5

I increased the requirement to become trust level one to help avoid any issues from flag spam from new users if there’s some drama.

I also allowed the use of the ignore function earlier because everyone should have the right to not view posts from users they don’t want to interact with.

Hey, the level cap for Raid Boss was 500 but after 7.0 it is now 665.
So I don’t believe this is a bug but more that maybe the level cap could be reviewed.

If your guild is hitting it quickly would you mind sharing a screenshot from your Raid Boss > Guild tab?

I will make a feedback request and include the screenshot to support it.

I’ll review the trust level needed to flag.

Just here to share the outcome from this feedback:

We acknowledge that the naming of our live events as well as the goal of the Invasion event is a little unfortunate when they happen to overlap with historical events. There’s obviously no intentionality there, but as these events do run as a (relatively) set schedule, sometimes they will have dates that have crossover. We have in the past responded to real-world events as they have occurred, but as a general rule, our preference is to keep the schedule fairly stable with regards to historical events.

@icy I’ll chase that email up today as well and DM it to you - as well as try to do a check to make sure they’re being sent properly and nothing is broken with the emails.

@awryan anyone who is banned is emailed the reason. And correct, if a post is deleted then a warning or ban should immediately follow, because posts aren’t deleted unless the community guidelines are broken. You can contact support to appeal a ban on the forum.

I don’t believe the forum tools has an option for the ban mail to come from the team member who placed it, it comes from the system - which can be set to appear...

Unless the bug is quite old there’s no need to tag CX, while we do try to leave a tag in the title to let everyone know the status, if we miss editing the title of some it’s still unlikely we’ve missed reporting it to the team at all unless there’s literally no edit or anything on it for a very long time (2 weeks+). We’re not perfect but I think we get at least 99% of the bug reports that come through here. I apologise, if we could acknowledge everyone in a more timely way we absolutely would.

Threads that have been derailed or are duplicates of one we’ve already addressed we may leave to respond to later as sorting through irrelevant posts nad duplicates adds more work to reply - ie. we can’t simply reply about the bug, now we also have to get the thread back on track or moderate the forum by merging threads etc. but I assure you everything that comes up is either tested or passed onto the dev team (or both) the same day it appears on the forum. We check the bug reports here...

@DAeron if you have a general issue or feedback about the forum you can post it in a forum thread (so here would be good).

If it’s about something to do with your user account or something else that might be private please contact support

@icy If you want to complain about a ban you can contact support, it’s not appropriate to discuss it on the public forum. Thanks!
