If you're certain that you're entering the correct login information and are still unable to access your account, it's possible that your account has been hijacked and imported to a Jagex Account by a malicious third party. In this case, contact Jagex Support immediately so we can take action to secure your account.

I found the issue. I tried to use the Google SSO instead of UN and password. Thank you for responding.

Glad it's sorted - :)

Just to check - you need to use the Launcher and you need to sign in with the email you used to create your Jagex Account, any old login you used before you upgraded to a Jagex Account won't work - let us know how you get on

Hey - you can delete an account but not a character. Some of your personal data is at the Jagex Account level (for example your login email). If you want to delete your personal data, that would include your login email, so deleting it would mean you can't access the Jagex Account at all.

We can't delete the login email for (say) character 1 and 2 but still allow it to be used for character 3, because that would mean we haven't actually deleted the email record, as we'd still need to store it as a login credential for character 3.

Hope that makes sense. Just wanted to make that clear so you don't submit a request to delete thinking it will remove a character!

I'm afraid that isn't possible - as you can have up to 20 characters on a Jagex Account, it should be quite a rare situation that somebody would need more than one Jagex Account (ie have more than 20 characters). I appreciate that doesn't help your situation but wanted to share the reasoning.

I believe I was falsely banned on 18th June, rsn: "Dr Pig". I would appreciate if you could review. Thank You.

That ban is not part of this incident, it was applied in the same timeframe but is entirely unrelated to the identified issue

I’ve been permanently muted on my main account I’ve played for years with no warning that another offence would result in a perm mute. I’ve taken accountability, apologised profusely and promised to never use offensive language in game every again and I’ve still had 4 appeals denied. A perma mute on a game where you need to interact with other players is so harsh and needs to be reviewed. I feel someone on the team has taken personal offence and that is drip feeding into the system, which shouldn’t happen, however I have also apologised if I offended anyone at the team too.

The account in question is Mut3dPinkman if any moderator sees this.

From what I can see there are 4 offences, it is a combination of offences that has resulted in a perm mute, not a single incident

u/Mod_stevew what makes the difference between a temp ban and a perma ban. Seems that botters and not botters were caught in this and people that did bot and didn't appeal in the window specified have all been unbanned and the people that did bot and submitted an appeal are banned / waiting on a decision?

I think it would be fair considering this whole issue to let everyone banned in that period have a 2nd chance as a gesture of goodwill.

We are looking at the ban not whether an appeal has been submitted - they will all fall under review

Long shot here.. But my main was banned june 14th. Had so many hours of play time on it. Was almost maxed.. and the appeal was denied. Rsn "Control 1" If anyone could please take a look at it. I would appreciate it. Thank you

Fits the group of potentially affected accounts, it will be in the review

Show us some proof of jagex manually checking all these incorrect bans? Keep responding to those posting usernames until you setup proper customer support? Focus on your anti cheating team + customer support before working on new updates?

Jagex makes plenty of money and instead of banning those obviously botting on the highscores, going around banning your legit player base. Love it

I can only assure you that the checks are underway. The game team who bring you updates are entirely unrelated to anti-cheating, so there is no no correlation that focussing on one or the other would bring about any change.

This 8 hour window, is that today? because it doesnt seem to be one isolated incident. Considering its happened on multiple days.

It is from Sunday, but we are checking back against older bans that may have had the same error

Would cost maybe what, 200k a year to get a customer support team together.. and jagex was bought for over 500m l. No more excuses.

We already spend a lot more than that on support but I get the anger/reaction.

The timing looks right so could be an error, it's these ones I referred to in my OP ".... it will take us a few days to complete the review" - I can see that particular one will be reviewed fairly soon though and we will get to it - ty for your patience

This was me yesterday during a farm run… got banned at 9 am and my account reactivated by 1 pm, didn’t know why or what was going on. Had enough time for my monthly shower though so not all bad news…

Sorry for the hassle, 4 hours sounds typical for this incident (although some are longer).

Not part of this recent incident, the ban is from years ago. It has been appealed and in the appeal text there is an admission of (paraphrased) 'a big mistake' cheating and wanting to get the account banned on purpose as a means to quit, which was subsequently regretted. On the face of it that doesn't sound like a 'false ban' sorry

We did message your friend a few days before applying the mute to give them the context of our concerns. Some of the game chat at that time is 'not great' but a perm mute does seem a bit harsh. Given that, and the passage of time, he now has his voice back.

I wanted to make this post because there have been a few recent threads relating to the topic of false bans.

Although we are constantly tweaking and updating our detection methods, there has not been any fundamental change we have made that could lead to false bans.

Unfortunately, there is always a possibility for human error. We mitigate this as far as we can through spot checks and sampling as well as exception reporting, which flags unusual trends.

In addition, there are some ban types where although the ban is almost certainly correct, there are other factors such as account hijacking that could result in the account holder not being complicit with the cheating identified.

For this reason we offer players the opportunity to ...

  1. Yes
  2. No

Edit for clarity - 'yes' you can log out and somebody else play from the same device and 'yes' you can play away from home. Most people are using Jagex Accounts with no issues at all, there are some elements of confusion around (such as not realising logins change to the new Jagex Account login) but generally speaking 'no' there are not a lot of problems
