I hope they wouldn't do me dirty like that, I'm clearly just a ballgame player that happens to be blue.

Oh no!
I've spoken to the team - We did a whole bunch of testing and weren't able to reproduce this!
I can't remember how bad it was before, so going to have a look back now - hopefully, it's at least way less frequent now?
We will keep you posted!
This seems like a lazy excuse. The level just before rock’n’roll snow edition is a race. The race has control over how many players qualify (barring ties, I suppose) so switch off the raw ‘x percentage of people qualify’ and make it 12 or 15 - problem solved.
I can suggest it as a new feature, the show selector doesn't really plan ahead like that currently, so it might be more complicated to code that exception in than it sounds
This game is always even teams in main show - it's only uneven teams in the dedicated playlist otherwise it would barely show up at all.
Agree that one player shouldn't be able to sabotage against an entire team though, that sounds like a bug!
awh man. i liked that idea tbh. i wish they would theme all levels winter. it just doesn’t feel the same when only 7 maps will be winter themed
There's a dedicated playlist for the winter only levels since we have 2 finals and 5 normal rounds
We didn't have time to go back re-theme old levels, and thought it was better spent working on the new levels
I agree it would be really cool, but I wouldn't trade new stuff for reskinning already finished levels.
There's also the risk that if they go back and edit old levels, there's a chance of creating new bugs
I asked Oliver about it on the Discord and he said he wasn't sure what they meant by that and that variations only come with the mid-season update
I was still confused where this had come from so I checked the article. It's not worded in the best way but I think they meant that there would be game-changing variations (at some point) during Season 3.
The variations will come with the mid-season update.
Oh that is why I was confused because I heard the 7 names of the levels and they were all winter themed. Leaks could be incorrect of course but they said the final is thin ice? That sounded winter themed to me
Hmm not sure what 7 names you heard, but the final that was pushed back doesn't have a winter-themed name
I have a question about new finals. Oliver claimed that two levels were dropping in season 2.5 and that one was a final, but the final was pushed back as it wasn’t quite ready. Is that final dropping with season 3, or later?
Good question - that's one of the 7 levels. You'll know which one because it's not winter-themed like the other 6 (I don't think, at least)
Stop it with the double fame points already. You make me wanna quit this game that I really like.
Interesting - why is double fame points a bad thing?
Okay, just to make it absolutely clear since you mention extending season 2, the battlepass page still says 1 day left.
What is the last day I can get battlepass progress? I looked on both the Mediatonic and the FallGuysGame twitter but didn't see anything there, is it Dec 10th or a later date? aka how long do I have left to try?
ps I love the game, very fun. Big Fans is very chaotic but I love making it across since it feels more like fighting my own impulses and timing than other beans.
We haven't yet announced the date that season 3 begins. Season 2 will now end on the same day. At the game awards, tomorrow, we'll announce the release date of Season 3 with a release date trailer. It won't be very long though.
yesterday u/trichoglossusbee said that the issue was not about the date being changed or unknown, he said they had a solid date for s3 that never changed. so why can't we just be informed about said date at the point where the devs confirm it? even if it's mid season, or two weeks ago. instead, we need to be searching for leaks pages all over because we don't get an official road map, at least with estimated times or what not. this time it seems like the delay after the initial pass timer was only about a week! by the time the team confirms a later date, we could just be informed about it and the players would apreciate it a lot!
instead of covering info and letting the leaks guys tell us first, the team could just publish the news when they are NEW! including dates, game modes, new customizations, etc. at the moment they are doing quite a better job at helping us know what's going on with the game we love than the actual team
A release date announcement is a big marketing beat, so we have chosen to reveal it as part of our featuring in TheGameAwards. A huge number of people will see that and we're hoping it will bring in lots of new players to the game.
It might sound like it's better to just communicate all of that with you, all the time... but that's not a great strategy for marketing. You can give level reveals as exclusives to secure press coverage, for example. We'll talk about everything as soon as we're able to.
It's not a case of us 'doing a bad job' of letting you know what's going on - it's us holding things back to make big marketing beats. It's something every game does, it's not exclusively a weird Fall Guys decision.
This perfectly sums up what’s going on rn
lol!
Unfortunately, though, the other side of the problem is that we're not able to communicate when the next season begins when a new season begins - because we don't have 100% confidence where it will land 2 months in advance.
We can't make the countdown count to a date that hasn't been locked in yet.
We're not going to remove the countdown now - but change how it's worded, to make it clear that the Season ending is not the next one beginning necessarily.
The Double Fame points time between seasons is something that I hope we do on every season, to fill the gap between the 'end date' and the 'start date'.
I only suggested removing the countdown because its currently doing a REALLY bad job at explaining what it actually means.
Lol for real, she's directly contradicting what Oliver said in that stupid discord post. If a 'season' is just the fame path and leveling up, and the season ends on December 10th, how does it make sense that you can continue leveling up after December 10th?
We weren't able to confirm that Season 2 would continue until yesterday. We've now extended it and added double Fame Points during that time.
It's not a contradiction - it's based on new information we announced yesterday.
I think one thing that really rankles people is when MT use sterile language like "misunderstanding." Misunderstanding implies a lack of blame. There is certainly blame to assign here, and it's not on the community.
Let's look at a set of facts:
- Season 1 had a countdown timer
- Season 2 began when the Season 1 countdown ended
- Season 2 had a countdown timer
- Season 3 will not begin at the end of the S2 countdown timer, nor was it ever intended to.
Can anyone spot the logical inconsistency? Silly community for "misunderstanding." Tsk tsk.
Season 2 did NOT start when the Season 1 counter ended.
Season 1 ended - and then we announced the release date of Season 2.
Then, during the gap between the two seasons, we announced that we'd have double fame points.
The devs are going to work on it some more so that it does a better job to communicate what it's supposed to.
I hope we're able to do the double fame points at the end of each season as a standard thing, moving forward.
I try to avoid 'blaming the devs' because, yes, it is our fault, it was a poorly designed feature - but it wasn't done on purpose. It was just an oversight. They're not deliberately trying to harm the community.
The countdown poorly communicates what it is supposed to communicate - so it's fallen on the Community team to try and explain it outside of the game... which has been really difficult to do. The Dev team are going to revisit it, and improve it.
I think a "rough timer" is a good thing you just need more emphasis on it being an estimate. It's going to be near impossible to pin down an official release date for the each season but that's why the double exp until release is a good incentive.
If the community misunderstood the countdown and thought Season 3 would start at the end of the countdown it's because it needed more explanation.
You can understand why players would believe that the end of season would naturally mean the start of a next.
Plus if the timer ran out and players were suddenly recieving no experience points, no levels and no loot that will turn players away from the game because they are essentially playing for nothing.
Maybe instead of a countdown in days to could just have something along the lines of "Season 3 Coming Mid December" so it's more vague but playes get the sense of urgency to unlock their loot before the time comes.
When I said there was misunderstanding, I meant it was because of the poor design, not that it was the communities fault.
I try really hard not to blame things on the design or Devs, they're trying their best, and this is just a case where a feature wasn't really done in the best way.
When players unanimously don't interpret something in the way it was intended, the feature is flawed and not communicating what it's supposed to. The fix for that is changing the feature, or removing it. We're leaning towards changing it now - and making it more obvious what it actually means.
A phase without any season live is just bullshit overall. Like, if you're not gonna release the new season then at least extend the current season instead of ending it. Not all people completes their battlepass on time. Really wish they never communicated that way trying to cover their asses and just be straight up honest when season 3 will start.
We've extended season 2 into season 3 and that period will have double fame points. We announced that yesterday when it was fully confirmed with the Devs.
Read moreYeah. Differentiating the end of one season with the beginning of another is a bit odd.
I’m glad to see Mediatonic is not actually cutting off the ability to grind seasons 2 rewards until season 3 is ready. Maybe that was their initial intention and they decided against it because it would be perceived very poorly, hence the jumbled messaging.
As dumb as it sounds, many companies do this. There have been gaps in which no battle pass is running in Brawlhalla and Rocket League. Brawlhalla seems to do this intentionally, with every battle pass this far ending weeks before the scheduled release of the next one.
Warframe makes entire “intermission” nightwave series (essentially free battle passes) because of how long the gaps between nightwave series are.
I genuinely have no idea why any of these companies don’t just let their previous battlepasses run until the new ones are ready. No one would expect new weekly challenges or tiers but they might as well ...
One problem is that we actually don't have a locked in release date for the next season when we launch the current one. We have an estimated one in mind, that we work towards - but it always adjusts as we get closer to the time. Making games is a creative task and you can only predict how long things will take to a certain extent. We don't want our team to crunch to hit deadlines, or work outside of normal hours and burnout. So we hold off announcing the official date until we have full confidence that it is possible to hit it.
That's the issue with the timer - we're literally not counting down to the next season, we don't have that date, really. We're counting down to a date that is slightly before the next season.
We're now thinking we won't remove the timer but we'll try to find a way to display it... In a way that attempts to explain what it means (that the season will start winding down at that date, and the next season will start soonish afterwards)
do not remove! we love having the counter, but we want the right one! this is because we are hyped about the next update, and not having it on time breaks our dreams
I don't think we are able to add a countdown to the next season - we don't know that date exactly when the current season launches. We can only countdown to a date that is slightly before the next season - then we can do double fame points until the real date.
I said "remove it" as we were discussing through options with the Devs and that was one of the ideas we were chatting through, the Devs are now in favour of just making it way more clear that it's counting down to the "winding down" part of the season, rather than counting down to the "end of the season" which suggests "the start of the next season"
Pretty sad that yet again we get more info about the game from leakers than actual announcements from Mediatonic.
You literally just described what a leak is lol. Information that we haven't announced yet, being shared before we are ready to share it.
Having an announcement at the game awards is a huge deal for marketing the game.
Holding info back to make a bigger moment for marketing is completely normal for any game.
Hey everyone, hear you all loud and clear - and agree with a lot of your frustrations. The team have said they will remove the countdown for next season. Their intention was to let people have a rough idea of how long they had left to play through the Season - so they wouldn't be upset if it ended before they expected. It's been really painful on the community side of things though, as there has been a lot of misunderstanding around whether Season's ending meant the next Season would begin. Thanks!
