I wouldn’t be surprised if that actually turns out to be the mmorpg they are working on, like Lost Ark.
Those two are different projects (and no, apologies, but I can't share anything more)

Really nice article, their future plans seem to be great and l ooks like they are committed to making riot a better work environment with very ambitious future goals (expanding into other industries while keeping the company's gaming core).
giving rioters shares in the company, acknowledging their past mistakes and pointing them out (take notes blizzard) really has me hopefull for the future of league and Riot Games as a company
Also mentions of Arcane season 2(+) and movies
It's weird how they didn't mention project L tho (or it's not idk)
For this particular piece we wanted to focus on big picture goals, company values, overall approach etc, rather than trying to cram all of that and game updates together all at once, given that tends to serve neither topic as well as separate updates.
In case you missed it there was also an update on Project L in November last year:
Agreed on reports alone being a dangerous indicator to focus too much on here. We'll be going off player survey data more to understand sentiment as a result
nah this isnt it. 99% of the time the verbal abuse in games comes from teammates, also all chat is an opt in feature genuinely dont understand the logic here
Team chat - agreed, the majority of verbal abuse does happen there. At the same time so does a lot of team coordination. We've not expecting this to hit the majority of verbal abuse but, looking at the state of all chat, we do feel it's got a pretty poor ratio of positive to negative interactions.
Regarding an opt in experience one thing we saw pretty repeatedly is that people who want any form of chat experience in the first place won't stay out of a comms channel because they don't want to miss out on potentially valuable stuff, even if most interactions are negative
It is, but there's also good interactions when you have a good game, when the opponent outplays you etc. I'll miss that a lot
Also it's crazy you do this, but never ban the countless accounts that run it down for 30 plus games. We don't hate this f**king game because of ALL chat, we hate soft inters and people who ruin the experience.
Yeah, there's some definite downsides to this approach. It's also a potential change that even internally there are a range of views on. We think the rate of 'Jungle Diff', 'GG easy', 'My team is sh*t' etc at this point outweighs the fun or sportsman like interactions, hence the trial. Could be wrong though
Literally if people used /mute all things would be better.
Now I can’t even get those random funny enemy teams sometimes
Not to mention that most flame comes way more by my own team than the opponent.
Couple of notes!
This is only cross team chat, we're not touching team chat
This is a test. From what we've been seeing All chat's really heavy on negative interactions and doesn't have that much positive at this point unfortunately. Open to being wrong though if this doesn't actually lead to a better overall experience.
I really hope cinematics stay focused around LL and won't include any Chibi Champs. Any info on that? Sorry if you're not the person to ask.
That's the plan so far at least. We haven't got any further than the Set 6 video, that one's LLs + regular champs just like previous ones though certainly
It seems they are a separate thing from LLs so they can probably keep the current ones in ARAM without allowing the chibis.
Yep. LLs will still be on ARAM. Chibi Champions are not LLs and will not be allowed on ARAM right from the start.
What are your thoughts on the last round of every stage (i.e 2-5 3-5) you and your teammate combine boards, given 2 minutes to prepare and have potentially 18 vs 18 units fighting?
Obviously huge balance issues but that's something I've never seen done in any other auto battler which could be unique to TFT
Depending on how our explorations with this mode go we could certainly be open to trying other takes on teamplay. For now though we want to start with something that's pretty close to the core TFT experience already on offer, see how that lands, iterate from there.
It’s been on Chinese mobile for a bit, I played and it was rather fun, not super different from normal tft tho and idk how it’ll go for ranked
Hextech Augments are something different again :)
We're expecting them to have a pretty meaningful impact on each game!
That's a bit too op, no? Takes the fun out of grinding cuz I just finished a game and I got 700 points like wtf LOL the story felt earned before now I feel as if I'm speedrunning mario.
It's still quite a lot of games to finish the story as a whole. We'd like the average player to be able to see most or all of the event story, even if that means that people who play a lot get through it pretty quickly. Our initial tuning was way off, hence this large correction which, while a bit clunky, is we think a lot better than waiting until next event to change tunings.
It should by live right now, but they said multiple times this mission won't be on missions tab, just play a game and you should get your 600 points.
It went live recently (as in, today). Wasn't there right at patch launch though, so can certainly understand a bit of confusion here
Is it just a 1 time thing?
Nope, repeatable each game
That was actually the canon pronunciation from before you joined the company. There was literally a thread on the LoL forums saying, "Hey, so we want a champion whose name is pronounced need-a-lee. Which of these spellings works best for you?"
But as players made "Nid-a-lee" her pronunciation over the years we eventually retconned it.
TIL (thanks!)
Is this comment Nidalee specific, or for uck-shan vs ack-shan too? The world (aka Reddit) needs to know!
This was more about Nid-A-Lee.
I've heard it pronounced Ack-Shan fairly consistently internally, wouldn't swear though that that's intended versus just internal misunderstanding too
+1, South Asian inspired was very much the target here for Akshan
Riot's official pronunciation for Nidalee is "Needlee."
I protest Riot's pronunciation framework.
That's Phreak's pronunciation framework, not the rest of us!
Would you guys ever consider making something like Odyssey/Star Guardians a full length roguelite game akin to something like Hades? If I could play League gameplay without going thru pvp I legitimately would not ever play anything else.
Riot's certainly open to making other games, that's not my area of expertise at work though, I'm just focused on the LoL and TFT side of things, so I'll leave any future games discussion to the teams in R&D :)
Any plans to bring back an Odyssey-like gamemode? Shit was fire.
Nothing planned. While some players really loved the PVE modes we saw engagement with them drop off incredibly quickly, which makes them hard to justify versus doing modes like Ultimate Spellbook here.
Any plans on adding more ultimates?
Not this time at least. Assuming the mode is well received we'll bring it back sometime though and very open to different ults if we do so
