The devs will continuously work on improving the support for controllers, gamepads, etc. The H&H update for example already contained some improvements (but afaik this was for the Xbox Controller only).

What I wantef to ask is:
What are the kind of game forums did/do you moderate. Do you prefer a specific genre/type of game?

Thank you! With the constant growth of the gaming industry and the rise of indie game developers and indie/micro publishers, I slowly migrated to working mainly within this industry. Previously, I have worked on streaming media platforms (e.g., streaming tv) and e-commerce sites. However, my first preference is with games as I enjoy them the most. I like mystery, sci-fi, simulation, puzzle, and survival games in no particular order. Some folks like music discovery; I love game discover... Read more

In short, content moderators ensure that user-generated content (UGC) is safe for users, is not illegal, and follows a platform's rules & guidelines. Of course, there is more to it than that, but that should give you a decent summary.

It has definitely been an exciting week for sure! As much as I would like to say that I know how users will react to a patch, I can't until it actually lands. Whether it is bug fixes or content being released, the reactions are diverse, to say the least. Content moderators have to be ready for an influx of activity across the grid, bringing challenges. Still, there is plenty of joy to be had as well.

You say "professionally". Does that mean you're actually paid? What kind of schedule do you work?

Thank you! As a content moderator, I get paid, but my work for Iron Gate is only on a volunteer basis. I am responsible for 127,001 users on Valheim alone and over 1.5 million users on and off the Steam platform. Due to the volume of users, my schedule runs around the clock. Therefore, I use a series of tools to ensure my job is more manageable.

Take care.

I'm doing well, got back from a vacation. I wasn't offended in any way. It was a conflict of interest, sadly. I needed to be able to perform my duties. It comes with the territory, I'm afraid.

Some individuals are curious about the world of content moderation, what it entails, and who takes on the task. Now is your chance to get to know one of your community moderators. You may ask anything, except for why someone in the community has been warned or banned. Please be respectful of one and another when discussing. Steam's rules and guidelines still apply in this thread.

Hi, my name is Node. I am a content moderator. I've been content moderating professionally since 2016 on various game hubs on Steam and communities outside of the Steam platform. While the work is challenging and trying at times, I enjoy ensuring that communities stay as safe as possible for others to enjoy.

NOTE: Discussions/questions of why you or someone in the community has been warned or banned are not permitted. Steam's rules and guidelines still apply in this thread.

For clarification: There are 2 test branches.

Public Test Branch, access for everyone. You get the code and instructions on Discord.

Private Test Branch, access only for verified and invited users.

The private testers (called "Protovikings") test major updates under NDA, the public testers can only test "normal" patches.

The folks taking part in the experimental branch submit plenty of negative feedback and are by no means "yes-men".

Like I said if you want to take part, join the Discord. Be a helpful community member, and you could possibly receive an invite. But, unfortunately, the branch is not available on Steam, nor is it available for download.

Such a branch exists, but you have to join Discord and be a good community member.

This is an early access game, you purchase it so that you get to be a tester of new features and give positive or negative feedback along with suggestions for new things. So it should really be expected that sometimes things will be released that you don't love. You give feedback on why it doesn't work and the developers look at it and see if it's valid & a change would benefit the game overall.

Re-balancing new mechanics are part of that cycle.

If you want a content release schedule that is more guaranteed, then ... Read more

Second let me make it clear that - while I can’t speak for everyone - my issue was not with making the game “harder”. Personally I do a lot of things to make the game more challenging (currently on Plains in a zero-death, no armor run). I just feel like serpent stew had that perfect risk/reward balance if you could pull it off early game, and this change effectively killed it with nothing to take its place.

I think your intent with the change was good; you wanted to open up different styles of play so you have foods to focus on hp or foods to focus on stamina. But the issue is that it just took too much away without giving anything back - except for tanks because blocking now revolves around HP. That’s great but not all of us like to play heavy tanky...

thanks! yea we are looking into if we need to ease up the difference between hp & stamina heavy foods a bit. Also better bows probably drain a bit too much stamina atm.

chill people :) , the idea was never to make the game that much harder but make food choices more interesting. Rest assured we are taking your feedback to heart and will look into it ASAP!
