Agreed!

Ask VALORANT, and we respond. This time we go deep on the state of the Operator, why updates are rolled out rather than all at once, and insight into what’s going on with the sound of footsteps.

Q

What are your thoughts on the opinion that “the Operator is too OP”?

A

We think the Operator isn't "too OP" but do believe that the feeling sometimes comes from a lack of personal agency against the weapon (for Agents that don't have tools to break line of sight for themselves), coupled with an overwhelming amount of team coordination to effectively counter an Operator. We're looking into a lot of avenues to help smooth out the experience but we do believe the Operator should be powerful and should encourage a team to thoughtfully enter a space where it might be in play.

To give an anecdote: we've tried iterations of the game where the Operator's strengths weren't as sharp as they are today (especially in ho...

Hey if I could make a suggestion, it would be really nice to be able to turn down just the gunfire sound but keep other audio cues. I have sound sensitivity meaning I can only tolerate quiet sounds, anything remotely loud causes quite a bit of pain. Intense piercing sounds like gunfire are especially bad. Right now I'm having to turn all sfx way down when playing which means I can't hear footsteps. Btw Guardian is by far the worst gunfire for me, the sound is very piercing and irritating.

Just a suggestion. There are quite a bit of people with sound sensitivity, it's part of multiple diseases.

Noted! I'll add it to the plans. Thanks for explaining it to me.

This warms my heart. I've got moderate-to-severe hearing loss, so I have a lot of trouble with game-relevant sounds in nearly every game I play. After well over a thousand of hours of asking friends to tell me where footsteps are coming from or when someone taps the defuse in CS and VAL, it's awesome to see that same level of support here too.

Thanks for sharing and making my day.

Definitely, yes. We launched with a pretty basic set of accessibility features and we want to do a lot more in the space. Sound visualization is on the list and we have a specification written (that works for our kind of game). All that's left is to figure out timing/priority and do the work.

Supposedly they're working on a better "ping" system. We'll see how it turns out!

Not a "better system", but an expansion of the current one into a few places, like ability intention.

Previously on Community Spotlight, we showed you some killer VALORANT cosplay. This time, we accessorize with the help of 3D printing from a few savvy members of the VALORANT community.

Have a look!

There’s just something about a Sheriff in blue. @WF3Dprinting shared their rendition of the six-shooter and even ...

There is a platform outage currently affecting multiple Riot games, including VALORANT. Many players will be unable to log into the game. We're working on it diligently to get it back up and running.

Just wanted to confirm that this is a known issue. It's specifically an issue with disconnected players in deathmatch. We have a fix for this in development. !pin
