I appreciate the response, but can you comment on the absurd amount of XP needed to level up the battle pass? Based of the OP's calculations, you would need to be playing this game non stop to max it out AND you do not earn back currency with leveling up the pass. I am loving the game so far and considering buying points and the pass, but this XP problem is concerning.

We heard ya in the Beta, appreciate the vocal voices around the pacing. The Contracts have been tuned to be much quicker relative to their beta pacing. As for handing over our jobs? C'mon! We like our jobs... We'll continue to monitor the overall pacing and feel of these passes and if we're off we'll change it. Keep that feedback coming.

If anyone has played league they'll know what riot has been really bad about their pass system, more recently they've been constantly reducing the time or rewards for it while keeping the price the same. This game also still has a huge problem with how you unlock characters since there's no way to farm for them inbetween releases.

Edit: According to riot the weekly xp will scale each week resulting in more total xp over the 2 months than what you could get from 2 months of challenges in the closed beta. Additionally they'll not expire till the end of the act.

During the Closed Beta (CB) we didn't have Weekly missions in the game so we allocated more XP to the Dailies to compensate with the unlock flow of the CB pass and Char contracts. We were off on the pacing of the Char contracts in CB and have since retuned them to be much quicker. The total XP that players are getting with the Daily and Weekly missions should be much higher than what was in CB resulting in unlocking content to be faster overall.

I'll need to review that to make sure it's accurate, but either way, I can tell you this: When we make tuning adjustments to the Battle Passes, we take lots of things into consideration. Here are a few:

  • HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE BUYING THE PAID PASS? If that's lower than we want, then it means players probably don't think it's "worth" it, and that's a problem. It could be that the rewards aren't desirable, the pass requires too many games, lots of things.

  • HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE 100%ING THE PASS? For every BP game I can think of, Battle Passes are created with a specific distribution in mind. The final tiers of the Battle Pass are supposed to represent something meaningful. "A top percentage of players earned this." It loses its value if it's too easy to get. So, we want completing the Battle Pass to be a commitment, but not impossible. It's why we grant so many rewards to players along the way: so those who couldn't finish it can still walk away with som...

Yea, we're missing a tooltip that points it out after you complete the tutorial. Adding that soon.

The hope is that having the mission, contract, and battlepass progress captured in the mini-widget helps people spot check their progress and upcoming rewards anywhere in the experience vs. having to go to a dedicated section each time.

But since it's something of a new way of doing it, we need to add a little more help at the outset so folks know what's there.

Weekly missions will come out each week in a sequential order but will not be reset or rolled over like the dailies. We want players to always have an opportunity for the large chunks of XP for their passes no matter when they join, assuming they can finish the weekly sets.

Same issue goes with League of Legends, the passes are just insane amounts of grind.

We are working on this. Appreciate your patience - the team have been focusing on this since the issue came up late into the night before last. Current situation:

  1. Most of you should get any new content you earn when you finish a game (and me since my account got hit with this too)
  2. We're working to give you back any content you should have earned but didn't because of the bug. This is pretty complicated though so will take a little time unfortunately.
  3. The missions not progressing bug is separate and a fix is currently in testing. We should have this fix out quicker.

Todays patch seems to have made things worse for me, not better.

Here is a look at my chapter 1 unlocks;

  • Red boxes indicate things that haven't unlocked properly
  • Green are things that have unlocked properly
  • Orange line indicates which levels were completed before/after the patch.

What's worse is that my free agent unlocks seem to be completely broken. Look at this image.

Thanks for the additional info. This & the free agent unlocks should be fixed by the work the team is currently focusing on. We'll get you your content, but it'll take a little more time since the issue is pretty complicated.

You don't - the team say they have a good path to identifying anyone affected. Again, it's pretty complicated but we'll get you your content.

If you see that the fix was deployed & people got their missed content but you still didn't, that's when I'd make a support ticket.

they fixed the bug where you don't get rewards , but they didn't give back the bugged tiers. which means that everything that you've unlocked when the bug was in the game is gone until riot patches this out

Most people should be earning new content correctly now (when you finish a game you should get what you earned in that game). We're working on fixing it so that any content you earned previously but didn't get due to the bug is granted to you as soon as possible

Unfortunately this issue is complicated, but it's top priority for the team today (as it also was yesterday & when it first popped up in the middle of the previous night).
