So my answer is kind of multi-fold. Why I started playing Vermintide, why I play it now, and why I continue to play it.

Why I started: Was somewhat bullied into it and kept playing because of the characters, the lore, and getting the chance to get new voice lines. Even though Verm isn’t played in a linear fashion, I adore the story and getting to know the characters and where they’re going.

Why I play now: Somewhere along the line I started playing a lot of modded content and fell into that and really grinding away hours trying to improve. Some days I absolutely question my choices and decisions, but overall I play to develop and try to play the best I possibly can, and it’s been an interesting experience to look back on where I was and where I am now and then look forward to where I want to be.

Why I continue to play: The community! There’s no community like the Vermintide community! There’s artists, writers, ...

This has FINALLY been resolved internally, hopefully to be included in the next patch!

Oh lawd, how would we even reproduce this one…

I’ll put it in the bug tracker but this is so random.

I think this is mod-related, but I can’t be sure, so I’ve raised it with development.

Normally the reports are that it doesn’t switch when players want it to, rather than random switching of it’s own accord.

I do suspect this to be a hardware issue. As Ricordis says, any particulars about your set up? Other peripherals plugged in? Anything that might interact with your mouse? Does your keyboard have a touchpad perhaps or a scroll wheel of it’s own? Anything at all?

Yep, once you’ve upgraded to WoM there is a pre-requisite of killing the lords again on Legend to unlock Cataclysm. A lot had changed (I guess you could argue a lot has since been dialled back as well, so maybe it’s less of a requirement these days) so we wanted players to re-prove themselves on Legend to unlock the next difficulty.

We will announce a date as soon as we can. We’re, right now, in the throes of tinkering with some of the pressing issues, such as enemy spawns, sounds. We’re looking at making adjustments to how enemies interact with players when surrounding them, to try and combat hyperdensity situations - this involves updating the AI behaviour trees to shuffle enemy considerations to be more in-line with your expectations (we hope!). We’re looking in to weapon swings for quicker sienna, kruber and kerillian weapons to mitigate missed swings, tweaking gor attacks, rejiggling events on a bunch of levels to make them fairer and less frustrating.

There’s a bunch of other nice fixes in the works, and we’d like to get you hopefully trying some of this stuff out on a beta branch, if all goes according to plan.

Locking post, as we’re already discussing this on the Steam discussions.

This is a known issue and will be addressed in our next patch. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Am I correct in saying you also posted this in the Steam discussions, and managed to solve your issue by reinstalling?

@Freakles it appears your GPU is essentially resetting during play. This may be because your GPU - the AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series - does not meet the minimum GPU requirement, being the AMD Radeon HD 5870. Unfortunately mobile (laptop) GPUs are often substantially under-powered compared to their desktop counterpart.

You could try performing a clean re-installation of your GPU drivers using the instructions ...

For this one, I’d try to run the game.exe directly @Gilanii

\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries\vermintide2.exe

It should still error but it will tell you which DLL file you’re missing (as that seems to be the cause of the crash). If you can try that and post the result here we can help further. Don’t install any dlls from a random fixit website.

My guess if you wanted something to try as well, would be to follow this guide:

Thank you @Jageral! So irrespective of whether you’re using DirectX 11 or 12, it’ll always crash with the Debug and Validation enabled?

Comment

If possible, would you be able to help us out here?

Hi all,

We’re aware more and more players are experiencing GPU-related crashes ONLY when using DirectX 12, and we desperately need your help as replicating the issues on our end is not proving to be easy!

If we’ve spoken in the past and determined that your crashes are specific to DirectX 12, we would really appreciate your cooperation by enabling what we call the D3D Debug and Validation Layer, playing as you normally would (or attempting to replicate the issue if the crashes are caused by a specific action, such as switching to Full Screen mode), and then providing us with the associated crash report.

To do this…

Firstly, switch back to DirectX 12 using the launcher’s ‘Settings’ menu.

  1. Navigate to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\bundle
  2. Right-click settings.ini and open with Notepad or similar
  3. ...

I think the only solution here would be to perform a clean re-installation of Vermintide 2, unfortunately. Please see the instructions here.

Thank you both, looking in to this.

Very much aware, I will continue to press this issue. Don’t worry!

Turns out this is related to the Xbox controller being connected, and will be resolved in an upcoming patch.

This appears to be GPU-related - please see here.
