We’ve worked through a couple of modifications to our plans.

Classes
Death Knight

  • Blood
    • The First Eidolon’s Soulsteel (2-piece) set bonus: Heart Strike now increases the duration of Dancing Rune Weapon by 0.33 seconds (was 0.5 seconds).
    • The First Eidolon’s Soulsteel (2-piece) set bonus: maximum Strength stack cap is now 40 (was 75).

We will modify the planned adjustment to the Dancing Rune Weapon extension from the 2-piece bonus, reducing the maximum stack cap of the Strength bonus down to 40 from 75. Our initial goal was to rein in the power from the overall set bonus as it far exceeded our expected value for a tier bonus when played well. However, this nerf also hit the lower end harder than intended while also making Blood feel worse playing around optimal gearing and mechanical play to maximize the potential of the bonus. We will instead shift to reducing the maximum Str...

With Burning Crusade Classic Season 3 ending this week, we can now see how the results are approximating, and we’ve decided to make some adjustments that will increase players’ ability to purchase PvP gear.

  • After Season 3 is complete, the discount on Season 3 gear will be increased to 60% (was 50%).
    • Developers’ notes: This should allow for players who reached the cap of 5,000 Arena Points to buy their set and a two-hand weapon, or their set and main hand and an offhand item.
  • Tier 6 tokens will now be exchangeable for Season 3 gear.
  • The Arena Points calculation has been updated to reduce the disparity of weekly Arena Points earned between different ratings.
    • Developers’ note: All Arena players should see an increase in points earned, and those at lower ratings should see a higher increase.

These changes will occur during maintenance and will affect the final Season 3 calculations t...

The 9.2.5 PTR has been updated with following:

PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER

  • The Enigma Arena has returned to the PTR with a new name: Enigma Crucible.
    • Developers’ note: Our intention was to release this map with a unique mechanic, a central button that allowed players to manipulate the pillar configuration throughout the match. Unfortunately, we encountered challenges during implementation that would have resulted in a poor quality experience. While we continue to work on this arena’s unique mechanic and evaluate it for a future release, we’ve decided to go forward with a version of the Arena that has a single pillar configuration that remains locked throughout the match.

Update:

A few days after we closed the Sunwell Plateau on the PTR, it re-opened and we decided to leave it open for a bit longer. But we really do have all of the data we need from the PTR so we’re closing Sunwell Plateau tomorrow (April 28) at Noon PDT (3:00 p.m. EDT).

Hello everyone! Here are the notes for this week’s PTR update:

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • All Covenant Sanctum feature achievements are now visible and count towards your character’s total achievement points, regardless of which covenant your character currently belongs to. Nonetheless, all characters must belong to a Covenant to earn that Covenant’s specific achievements.

ITEMS AND REWARDS

  • Reward boxes from Callings now contain twice as many Grateful Offerings, still scaling with your covenant sanctum’s Anima Conductor level.
  • The Zereth Mortis weekly quest “Patterns Within Patterns” now awards Grateful Offerings.
