Dante Changes & Fixes

Tragedy Line of Sight (LoS) Changes & Fixes:
As a result of yesterday’s Hotfix and the understandable feedback we’re receiving, we wanted to address the clearly broken state of Dante’s Tragedy LoS checks. It was not implemented to our standards, and that is on us. We know that this has been an unpopular change, which was greatly aggravated by the fact that a) it launched in a defective state and b) that LoS checks in general suffer from broad inconsistencies.

Our first step is improving how LoS checks work with Tragedy to fix the inconsistencies and ineffectiveness. We’ll use our learnings from this incident to review other cases of LoS check issues for a future update.

  • Improved Tragedy’s Line of Sight checks per enemy to be much more forgiving and reliable to fix the many cases players reported of not being able to hit enemies at all. Now, it considers not...

Hello!

We're investigating the Komi Board! Stay tuned while we work to resolve this issue. Thanks!

Post

We botched the LoS change to Dante yesterday, I apologize for shipping it in that state. We will be making changes later today to improve it, details ahead.

One silver lining that came from this mistake is that we have decided we will revisit older LoS checks to use this improved version in a future update.

Old LoS check:
We do a raycast, basically draw a line from you to the enemies center and if nothing interrupts the line along the way they are considered on sight. Raycasts ignore other enemies.
Additionally we had a bug that prevented it from working on ragdolled enemies, so if they were pulled by vortex or whatever they were totally invisible to the ability.

The main problem with this approach(aside from the huge ragdoll bug) is that a single raycast can easily trigger as false if for example there is a small railing between you and the enemy. Abilities like Radial Blind, Vast Untime and Rotorswell for example...

Revert the change; the things your looking at doesn't matter if this is how Tragedy works.

We appreciate the video, since it showcases the problem with the current Line of Sight checks in a very analytical and accurate way.  However, the behavior in the video is what is being fixed. See attached video for the upcoming improvements to how we check for LOS that were mentioned in the first post.

We've been poring over your comments regarding the balance changes to Dante. We want to reiterate that we are paying close attention to player feedback and taking these conversations very seriously. As with everything in Warframe, iteration is always possible, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how Dante feels now that these alterations are in your hands.

One of the clearest pain points from the community is the inconsistencies in Tragedy’s Line of Sight (LOS) checks, and we can confirm that the following changes are already on deck for an upcoming hotfix:

  • Tragedy not hitting ragdolled enemies that are within LOS

  • Increasing the number of LOS checks per enemy to improve the reliability of marginal hits

We are still actively reading your ...

We're reviewing LoS right now with Dante. Can't speak to Khora at this exact moment, but the team has it noted.

Quoting myself to provide additional updates:

We see that Dante's Tragedy LoS does not hit ragdolls and has issues hitting enemies in your general sight (as noted in this thread.)

We're testing a change to Dante's LoS that both effectively hits ragdolls and does the increased number of checks per enemy to improve the reliability of marginal hits.

Hi Tenno! Confirming this is a known issue: Pack Leader will remove companion Overguard.

After investigation, the team has determined this will require a Code change, meaning we will be unable to fix this until our next Cert build. Thank you for the reports!

Hi Tenno, confirming this issue is on our radar! After some investigation, the team has found a code fix (meaning it will need to wait for our next Cert build), but we'll keep looking into a workaround for the time being.

You guys should consider improving the way line of sight works, this issue could be seen with Khora where her whip would not deal any damage even when using it directly on an enemy for example.

I don't think line of sight is a bad change but if you're going to do it at least don't make it feel inconsistent to use

Hi Tenno! You need to be Rank 5 in the Cavia Syndicate to access Deep Archimedea. Doesn't appear that you're Rank 5 yet, so you should see Necraloid once you rank up. :)

Hi Tenno, this should have been fixed in today's hotfix! Please let us know if you're still experiencing it.

For visibility here, we're actively reading your feedback on the nerfs/changes, Deep Archimedea, etc.

We hear you on it all and are not taking it lightly.

Appreciate the constructive comments.

The fix is live!

We've also re-enabled fog :)

Hey Tenno! While we are calling this a hotfix, it is actually a small CERT update to specifically address a PS5-specific crash. It will appear and download as your usual Warframe update. Learn more about what “Cert” means in our Warframe Lexicon for Updates.

PlayStation Specific Notes:

  • Fixed a PS5 crash related to memory corruption bug associated with Graphics.
