Were those error.log files from Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder or somewhere else? I'm only interested in the one that is in that folder.

All you have to do is install Macs Fan Control and run it, then play the game. After 10 minutes play alt-tab out of the game and see what temps it reports.

What are those 3 error log you've attached now? They appear to be identical, AND still have those weird errors in them.

That cpatch.log appears to show an incredibly slow connection, even stopped really, or perhaps it's slow in writing the downloaded files. Not sure I've ever seen a log like that!

Are you sure you ran steam.exe as the Windows Admin user?

Can you test this on some other device on this same network? Or perhaps can you run up a VPN and try it across that?

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters

  1. Go to Windows Control panel.
  2. Click on Network & Internet.
  3. Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
  4. Click on Change adapter options.
  5. Right-click all network adapte...

Move that save file to Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/save games/ folder, and it will show in the game to be loaded.

That looks okay.

When you did the clean reinstall did you make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again? Because there are some worrying errors in that error.log

What temperatures do you see for CPU and GPU while playing the game? I use Mac Fan Control for that purpose.

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Not sure why that happened to yu, but once a computer file is corrupted there's no way back - sorry!

However with this game there's an emergency copy Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/last_save.ck3 - IF you have not started or played some other campaign since! Does that help you?

You are right, that is utterly strange - why would one VPN help and one not? Anyway that makes it clear it is something about your machine, local network or ISP - the game and launcher themselves are clearly okay if they can work at all.

Can you see your cloud saves here?

With Steam as the focus app look up the top left of your Mac screen. You'll see title Steam-Account-View etc. The last of those is Help, in there is System Info.

Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

That does surprise me ... can you try it on this machine in a different location? OR some other machine in this location?

If not, even a different machine in a different location?

Any mods in use in those campaigns?

If not:
Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

And attach a crash save file here too, thanks.

I see nothing relating to this problem in any of those files!

What if you run a VPN, or connect via a phone tether, as an experiment - do you still get that error?

Can you tell me what Lucky_Paradox.exe is? Google ws not very revealing.

That aside I see no issue in there.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Sorry, but no - once a campaign is not achievement-worthy it can never revert to being able to earn them. If that was possible anyone could cheat their way to any achievement!

If it happens reliably in a particular save at a particular date, it's pretty clearly a game bug so Bug Reports would be the right place for it.

Then just put that campaign aside, and try it as you see new patches come out - typically a clear crash bug would be fixed in the next 1 or 2 patches, depending on release deadlines.

Sorry for that problem!

This game doesn't use .NET so it seems unlikely that is related to your problem.

You could try these Windows repair tools though:

Hmmmm. Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:
