This is something that's currently being investigated, we've had several reports about this across multiple games on Game Pass and we're having a difficult time figuring out why this is happening! We've also been unable to replicate it so I have no idea how long it will take to solve it.

What i mean is, will CK2 do cloud saves okay? The point is to see if this issue is confined to CK3, or is maybe some Steam problem.

I know it seems unlikely, but this is probably caused by that old Intel video driver (2014) even though the game is running on the nVidia.

Please check for a newer driver with ASUSTeK, failing that Intel themselves:

I see you have CK2, does that have the same problem?

You posted the Paradox logs two posts ago ... ?!?

Anyway, the two events you've posted here are harmless. One just says "the operation completed successfully", the other "the system has resumed from sleep".

Were there none marked ERROR or WARNING in the few minutes before the most recent computer freeze?

All that error is saying is that ads can't be shown. Is that the only problem, or does it affect gameplay as well?

I see, I don't know why that is. I wonder if this is just you or everyone now?

Can anyone else reading this say if they get this too? Thanks!

Try unsubscribing from all of them, then exit the game. Reboot then access it if GFN again - can you subscribe to them okay now?

Does that start the launcher? If not you should run the the Steam PLAY button instead.

But at least we are not getting the DX11 errors in that log any more. At this point I'm pretty sure there is a Windows or hardware problem here.

Are there lines in the Windows Event Viewer that correspond with these crashes, either errors or warnings?

No, it hasn't worked, the game is still using DirectX 11. Try opening the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/ck3.pdx_settings.txt . In there change the Renderer line from DX11 to OpenGL (exactly like that, it's case sensitive).

Does that make any difference?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

This is under the Steam userdata folders? If so Steam should remake it when you subscribe to some mods again, which is how it got made in the first place.

Can i see the pdx_setings.txt after trying that -opengl launch option? I just want to make sure it is actually in effect, thanks.

Don't blame yourself, that may have been the default for all we know.

We can try this: In your Steam Library right-click on this game and choose Properties. Click on Set Launch Options, and paste this in there:
-opengl

That will make the game slower, but it's good test of whether the issue is in the graphics system.

Then either an antivirus app is getting in the way, or there is a file system problem here.

If that /mod/ folder won't delete, can you at least rename it to anything else? That will do the trick too.

That system.log shows the game is running on the AMD video system, as it should be.

I see you have Vsync disabled but no refresh rate cap. Probably best to enable Vsync, to make sure the game is not pushing the video system too hard.

Next I see your Mac desktop is at 1680 x 1050 but the game is at 2880x1800 in fullScreen. Does it help if you reduce that to the same as the desktop resolution?

There's one crash in Stellaris recorded in that dxdiag but no mention of this game.

I see an exception.txt in that screenshot, can we see that please?

And are there lines in the Windows Event Viewer that correspond with these crashes, either errors or warnings?

Bjoris said: Now I read here that PDX is responsible for the "bug". Can some urgency be made here please?
Sorry, where did you read that? We haven't established that this is a bug in our products yet.

You have a bunch of what look like Windows errors in that dxdiag, but no mention of this game there.

The error.log shows errors in some mods you are using, and issues with both the sound drivers and the video driver/card. Normally I'd say this looks like a Windows problem (aside from the mod errors) but you say you've done a Windows reinstall. Was that just a W... Read more

Treleaven said: How would I go about requesting a refund for these products.?
We can process refunds only if you bought from our Webshop.
If you bought from elsewhere (such as directly from Steam) you must approach them for a refund or credit.
