Well, if it's overheating at less than 50 fps there is something severely wrong , maybe a broken fan or old thermal paste in the GPU?

One more thing to try; edit that pdx_settings.txt and change this line as follows:
"renderer"={
version=0
value="OpenGL"
}
That is case sensitive, so exactly like that please. Does that make any difference?

That system.log shows you running game version 1.3.0 - is that right? Current is 1.4.4

And I see Window 10 has not had major updates applied for nearly 2 years. While unlikely to be the cause of this problem, you really should run Update and apply the new Win10 version you see there.

With those settings you should max out at 60hz which should not cause overheating. What fps do you see in the game?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Hi there! Sorry for taking the time to get back to you!

Could you possibly upload a sample of a mod that would cause this issue to help with reproduction?

Thank you in advance!

Hey there!

Apologies for the delay! I can definitely see why it can be frustrating for you. I'd like to see if we can troubleshoot this further, namely - how did you end up with your mods broken? I've tried replicating it on my machine multiple times and my mods load correctly, which makes me suspect that some lingering settings and files when you remove the game (perhaps in Documents) are affecting this situation, in which case I would suggest you make a copy of your CK3 and Launcher documents and delete them from the directory, reinstall the game and launcher clean and see what happens then.

Let me know if it works or not and we can take it further.

Hey there!

Apologies for the delay! Could you please give us some more information about the issue? I am unable to reproduce it locally and it seems that the problem might be with the launcher rather than the game.

In this case, would it be possible for you to uninstall launcher and remove all traces of it from the directory,

You can also do the same with game and make a fresh reinstall, just in case simply reinstalling the launcher doesn't work.

You can keep your Documents folder so you don't lose your settings and saves.

After that, try to replicate your case and install mods and see if the same issue occurs. We'll troubleshoot it from there.

The 1603/1605 errors we see there are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

Otherwise run the Update app in Windows, does it load okay, find anything to apply - whether a patch, update, or whole new Windows 10 version? If so do that and reboot, then try this launcher install again please.

You might need to contact Avast support to make sure those .exe files can access that folder fully.

Those temps are fine.

But you have a problem with your antivirus app:
[22:11:07][virtualfilesystem_physfs.cpp:1581]: Could not open file: pdx_settings.txt, error: pdx_settings.txt permission denied
I'm surprised that hasn't had more dire consequences for you! Whatever AV app you use you'll need to make sure that ck3.exe is allowed through it, plus cpatch.exe and Paradox Launcher.exe .

Dyer Maker said: No, not exactly that, but the same result. If I run the exe (in Crusader Kings III/Binaries) as administrator I get "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150004). Click OK to close the application" The launcher does not work, it only gives me "The game failed to launch" When everything fails you begin to look for alternatives to address the issue. So far I've had no luck at all. It's heartbreaking, because I played the game in March successfully, but since then I've replaced my dead gpu with a new one, and now cannot play (only this) Paradox title. ...
