If this is reproducible from the save game file, and no mods are involved, please make a new Thread in Bug Reports and attach the problem save file there for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

That's odd. If you delete that system.log does the game make a new one?

There are some mod errors in that log; please disable ALL mods and only test this with a new campaign (ie started under the 1.9.x patches, no previous patch) .

Unload every other app you can, and especially GeForce Experience if that is running.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Is that any better?

Is this in a campaign started under the 1.9 patches, which has never had any mods used in it?

If so please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the affected save there, for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

Not sure what could cause that, to be honest.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new campaign, NOT any existing one

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:

My question was whether you have a save file that reliably shows these crashes, that QA can look into.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Then test with a NEW unmodded campaign - any better?

If you have a campaign save that was started under 1.9 and has never had any mods used in it, does it trigger these crashes fairly reliably?

And let's have a look at your setup.
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , exceptions.log

I understand that. Again, my question is were those crashing saves - campaigns - first begun under 1.9 patches? Or started under 1.8 or earlier, regardless of what game version you are on now?

You have a lot of mod errors there. Is this happening in a campaign that's never had any mods used in it?

If so, was it started under the current 1.9.x patches, or earlier ones?

The game did not change over that time, so I'm afraid you almost certainly have some local problem. I'll try and help you with that, but I'm no Windows technician!

Check that your Windows power profile is not set to anything low.

You are VERY low on free space:

This game was never supported on MacOS 10.13, it is pure luck it used to run anyway. Unfortunately this patch also failed on 10.14 , that's being looked into.

The other issue that's new with 1.9.x is it will not start on Macs with Intel video systems; again that was not supported before 1.9 but the game used to run anyway.

If you can't update beyond 10.14, OR if you only have an Intel video system, all you can do is revert to the 1.8 patches in the Steam Betas tab for this game.

If that doesn't help, this may be coming from outside the game. Do HOI4 and Stellaris run okay, or also have this issue?

I don't know what is wrong on this machine to cause all these problems to you, it's not normal.

You didn't make ck3.exe run as Windows Admin did you? If so, undo that.

And what about steam.exe , is that running as Admin?

Ah, okay, I don't play this game so I'm unaware of mechanics like that.

We cannot help with modded games here at all, so please disable ALL mods and test this with a new campaign.

If you still get this, Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Any better then?

Are you sure of that? My 2017 iMac can run 13.3.1 (a) perfectly fine. What actual model of Mac do you have?

Was this in a campaign started under a previous patch, 1.8.x or earlier? If so this may be an incompatibility between the versions.

Can you test this with a new campaign started under the current 1.9.x patches?

Aha! that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2023.6/paradox launcher.exe
