Actually I'd suspect the GPU was overheating, your symptoms are pretty typical of that.

Just so you know, strictly speaking the game is not supported on any Intel video hardware under MacOS\.


I see the game is at 1440x900 - is that your Mac's desktop setting? If not, change the game to match your desktop resolution.

That may have been when my mod problems started, or it may just have been when I first noticed, since I was unable to get my 1.5.1.1 save game running again

If 1.5.1 crashes then this is not the known issue with 1.6 . Has 1.5.1 worked on this machine before?

Can I get new copies of dxdiag.txt and pdx_settings.txt please?


Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

I did get this from one affected Gamepass user:

In case anyone else had issues when they purchased the season pass from gamepass.
The season pass shows no downloads and the dlc by itself looks like you need to purchase it.
Click the dlc and click the purchase.
It’ll change and say you own this already.
Click the same box that now says you own this already and it’ll ask you to download it.
Do the download and boom it finally adds
You need to do it for both northern and RC downloads.

Are you still on 1.5 ? Because 1.6 was released a few days ago and most mods will not work until they are update by their authors.

What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.7/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT ck3.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

When you posted this thread 1.5.1 was the current version and this function worked the way you wanted it to. Now 1.5.1 does not work the way you want. Is that right?

If so, there pretty much has to be something else in your system that is causing this for you. Hard to guess what though!

Does this happen with all mods disabled?

What antivirus app do you use?

Microsoft do not provide any mechanism to distribute alternate or older game versions, unlike Steam. All you can do is wait for a fix from us, or only play on a computer with a more advanced CPU that has AVX.

I think this probably is due to your video system with CK3, I'm afraid. Do make sure your Intel video driver and Mesa versions are the very latest.

However why our launcher does not work I do not know. What exactly happens when it tries to start from the Steam PLAY button? Are you then running the games directly from their executable?

Note that CK2 does not use the new launcher, but you are saying it too now fails for you?

This will likely need individual intervention for each of you affected, which can only happen from Tuesday on next week.

We see several Windows errors at thje end of that dxdiag. Are you having issues outside this game, would you say?

Does the Windows Update utility find anythign to apply? If so do that and reboot.

In the launcher Game Settings menu select display mode fullScreen, Vsync off, refresh rate 60. Is that any better?
