No mention of the game in that dxdiag.

What happens if you run ck3.exe directly? Any error show?

In the game launcher-game settings, choose fullScreen, Vsync Off, and refresh rate 60 . Any difference?

If not, then edit that pdx_settings.txt file and find the renderer line. Change DX11 to OpenGL (exactly like that) - any difference?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log, exceptions.log

Yeah, they haven't yet decided whether there will be a separate set of forums for the console editions, as there is with say CSL or Stellaris. Just use the standard forum for the time being, thanks - put [Xbox] in the title though.

Me either, I have to say! We've exceeded my knowledge and experience of the internals of Windows I'm afraid.

I found this article on that message:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID - Microsoft Q&A...

That's likely a problem with the crash upload process, quite separate from the fact that you are getting crashes.

Did you want help with the crashes themselves? Are there any mods involved?

The Bug Reports forum here would be the right place.

All the best!

Dnomyar96 said: The most recent crash from CK3 only had a single line in the error log:
If there's nothing there, nor in dxdiag.txt referencing either game, that again starts to look like a hardware issue - or at least an issue from outside the game, which the game of course cannot log.

Do you see any ERROR or WARNING entries in the Windows Event Viewer in the few minutes leading up to these crashes?

A LiveKernelEvent happens when the machine is forcibly rebooted or downed - that is happening in association with this game?

You may find entries in the Windows Event Viewer in the few minutes leading up to them.

The two game crashes we see in there are in your nVidia driver:
+++ WER1 +++:
Fault bucket 1295054024425763410, type 5
Event Name: BEX64
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: ck3.exe
P2: 1.0.0.0
P3: 62334448
P4: nvoglv64.dll
Which is disappointing as we've already done a clean reinstall upthread here, although with a previous driver version.

All this is starting to point to a Windows or hardware problem, I have to say!

OpenGL is a slower and less polished video standard than DirectX. We're just using it here for testing purposes.

The fact it made some difference but didn't completely fix it is about the worst possible outcome of that test ... ! Damn.

it's disturbing that even changing settings causes crashes and freezes. This is only since openGL or it was like that before?

Are these issues since openGL being registered in dxdiag.txt?

Understood. Can you try what I suggested in my previous post please? That will clarify if it is indeed a DirectX11 error as it seems, or something else.

I'm afraid we in tech support can do nothing about this - sorry!

Please add your situation to any thread in Bug Reports on this problem.

Thanks and sorry for that bug!

As I say above, I suspect that repeated error is causing the apparent memory leak. Have you added that detail to the Bug Reports on the issue?

This game does naturally have a fairly long load time; on my fairly modest rig it took 4:34 to get from PLAY in our launcher to the main game menu, then only a few seconds to load an actual save from that menu. If you are hitting Resume in our launcher, you get both of those together.

Has it always been like this with this game for you/them? Or it was okay up to some point?

Please don't reopen old threads in future, the game has changed hugely since 2020 so it's unlikely you have the same root cause.

What happens if you run ck3.exe directly, does it start? If not are there any errors shown?

This only happens in MP, is that right? And only with one particular other player, you can play with some third person okay?

If that is so, can that second person also play okay with some third person, or they have a problem then too? Does it make any difference who is host/

And finally, has it always been like this with this game for you/them? Or it was okay up to some point?
