Can I ask why that would be? You don't have the single-user edition of Windows.

I don't think the Gamepass app has a verify function, but can you try a clean reinstall of the game in case it didn't install properly?

Okay then, seems like a real bug! Please make a new thread in Bug Reports forum , and attach the problem save file there for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

The game has never run properly for you on this machine, is that right?

Please go here:

This article lists the download links for the latest versions of Visual C++ Redistributable packages. support.microsoft.com And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

First please update that nVidia driver to March 2022 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Then do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for this game

- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.... Read more

Heya Arnie52!
I can verify that this bug already exists in our bug database.

The development team will take a look at it and resolve it in a future update.
Thank you for the report!

I see, thanks for the detail. I now suspect this must be a game bug I'm afraid.

Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the problem save file there for QA to look into.

Then just put that campaign aside and try it as you see new patches come out.

Sorry for that problem!

I know you've done a Windows reinstall already, but bear with me if you will.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for this game
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new campaign, BEFORE restoring nay save game files.

If there are still issues let's see those logs yet again please!   ...

I'm not aware of other such reports, although I'm not across the Bug Reports forum here at all.

Is this repeatable in other campaigns?

Any mods involved?

And here we are.

If you have a huge empire covering, say, 1/4 of the board or more, this is a known issue - you can probably find Bug Report entries about it. Most likely there are just too many units for the game to handle well.

Heya!
Sorry for the very late reply. This issue exists in our database from a different report, and I have made sure that the development team are aware of this issue. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

Not at all a waste of my time - you had a real problem with our game, that's what I'm here for.

I too cannot account for what happened to you and how it came good, really the game and nVidia driver reinstalls ought to be entirely independent.

Do let us know if you have any further troubles.

Corvino27 said: Strange I don't have any antivirus app. I only use Malwarebytes and windows defender.
Those are both AV apps. However not ones that typically cause this problem, that would be Avast and AVG mostly.

In any case please flag all these to run as the WIndows Admin user:

dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.4/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

Then you don't have to run Ste... Read more

I just tried that save on my Windows desktop, and still could not crash it in several years' play. I went into the throne room and still no problem.

I'm stumped on this one I think!

That error log looks bad, apart from anything else do you have old save games still there? Can you try moving them elsewhere then start a new test campaign please?

That error log looks pretty bad. Was this problem save game started under the 1.5.x patches, or earlier ones?

That is likely a Windows file system permissions issue, which can be caused by an antivirus app getting in the way. Which one do you use?

Looks like a problem in the nVidia card or driver:
Fault bucket LKD_0x117_Tdr:3_TdrBug:575504_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys_Turing, type 0
Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Please try this:

- uninstall that driver and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install March 2022 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot

THEN in the game launcher select full... Read more

If those don't help:

No obvious cause in those file. Was there no error.log for us?

Edit that pdx_settings.txt file and find the renderer line. Change it to be like this:
"renderer"={
version=0
value="OpenGL"
}

Does that make any difference?

You can make a new thread in either of those forums. While you can post a link to this thread there, it's probably best to simply paste in your text from here into there.
