Other things can alter the checksum: edited game files, a corrupt installation, or using the debug launch option.

Merzin said: I reopened the game today and to my surprise the resume in the launcher didn't send me directly into the game. The game was on offer in the game, but when I opened it, it took me back in time. I missed three recharged kingdoms, I don't know exactly how many years it was. But something is wrong anyway. If the game forgets the progress of several game years.

I quit the game normally, there was no crash or anything like that. And even though I came back in the past after the fall, it took me back a maximum of several months, not years. Any ideas why this could have happened? ...

Jayvee94 said: Well, that's a bummer. But for the record, I was locked from doing achievements from the beginning because I appear to have mods I definitely didn't install.
Hard to see how that can be! We obviously do not force mods on unsuspecting users ... what mods were they?

Hi @Ksaes!

We have managed to find a workaround for this issue.

Change MASK_SCALE to 0.5 in game/common/defines/jomini/mapeditor.txt, it should work again as expected.

Please, try that solution and let me know if this has been resolved for you!

Jayvee94 said: I wanna continue this thread because I have a similar problem. I opened my save on debug mode in order to add name_list_levantine to my Hybrid Culture (I forgot to pick aesthetics)

Now the ironman game doesn't seem to save.
Yours is a completely different situation - that is working as designed. You are not supposed to be able to modify an Ironman game and keep being able to earn achievements.

You are saying that the save shown in the REsume button is not showing in the game's Load menu, is that right?

Even if you tick the "Invalid saves" box?

Local saves are in Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/save games/ cloud saves are shown here:

I am very sorry, then, I have no explanation for what has happened to you - whether they were there but somehow got deleted, or never wrote out at all.

All I can suggest at this point is you make a manual copy of your save just before or after every play session, so you don't lose too much progress were this to happen again.

My apologies for this problem, regardless of the cause!

Clean out all air vents it has (compressed air cans are good for this). Make sure airflow to them is not blocked by anything like walls, books or whatever.

If that doesn't drop the temps enough, you probably have a faulty fan or a heatsink/thermal paste problem. You may need professional help at that point.

GrimtaleS said: I do not have other machine to test. So I guess CK3 is forever unable to play for me now.
Okay then, what if you make a new Windows user, log into Windows as that, and try the game there? Does the error log look the same?

GetmySwagerino said: GPU startet at 34 and runs up to 80 degrees.
That is probably the problem, although I'd more commonly see that causing the game to run slow rather than reboot the machine. It never gets higher than that?

The Documents folder with the error logs ought to be in .local/share/Paradox\ Interactive/Crusader\ Kings\ III/

Do you happen to have the RivaTuner utility running, specifically RTSS? If so please unload that and try the game.

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

Your Intel HD Graphics 530 is well below the minimum requirement for this game, the Intel® Iris Pro™ 580

UserBenchmark: Intel HD 530 (Desktop Skylake) vs Iris Pro 580 (Mobile
Whether that's causing your crashing problem I'm not sure, as we also see lots of worrying errors there. But it is very. likely the cause of your very slow performance.

If you delete the whole Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/ folder (after moving any valued save games elsewhere first of course) do you still get these crashes?

what happens if you run the ck3 executable directly from a terminal command, line, which bypasses the launcher?   ... Read more

I just tried this - I made an Ironman save under 1.4.4 then updated to 1.5.0.2 .

In the game launcher I see an orange ! triangle next to the PLAY button that says:
The last save game was created on a different version of the game (1.4.4). Resuming from it might cause the game to malfunction or even crash.

If I hit PLAY there instead of Resume, when I get to the Load menu in the game that 1.4.4 save does not show unless I tick the "Show Invalid Savegames" box. If I do that it has a Red ! next to it saying Different Version.

I'm not sure if you used Resume or the Load menu, but did none of those things happen for you? Or were they perhaps not prominent enough to get your attention? I'd really like this to not happen to anyone again!

Has this always happened since you've had this game? Or it was okay up to some point?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log, exceptions.log

I don't understand why you get all those errors in that log. We're just not seeing that elsewhere.

If you have access to any other machine to test this on, do you see that error.log there too?

@Arakrates this looks like another case of this ongoing problem?
