A much better error log! But that made no difference to your crashing problem - it's still the whole PC, is that right?

Note you may need to add the new ck3.exe to your AV app's exceptions lists.

And can I get a new dxdiag.txt please.

I don't see them in any of your posts here?

Are you sure you left no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again? Because that error log looks a bit worrying in that respect!

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Which AV app do you use? We have seen this with Avast and AVG so far.

That does sound exactly as if your antivirus is preventing the game from writing out changes to those files. Which one do you use? You are such ck3.exe is in all its exceptions lists?

Ironman saves are stored in the same places as others, as per post #2 above. Their main difference is the word Ironman in the title (by default).

Did your clean reinstall include making sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again?

Note that when you revert to patches before 1.5 you must disable the Royal Court DLC as well - it causes crashes to earlier versions.

The standalone launcher and Steam use different game installations, so what you see is normal in that respect.

I guess I'm not 100% sure what your issue is now. You see this game to instal in the standalone launcher but it won't run from there? Or it's not there to install?

Has it always happened with this game? Or only since when?

Right from game start, or only in mid or late game play?

Since 1.5.1 you can delete that /logs/ folder again. Do you still get these errors in taht log?

So it's something on this machine rather than a bad Window user profile.

I'm sure if you install the game on any other computer, as a test, you do not get that?

Is this the launcher run in standalone mode, rather that from Steam, I'm suspecting?

Does it run okay from Steam, if you have that?

There's no other files in the log folder, are you saying?

What happens if you run the game's executable from a terminal command line? Any useful errors show when it crashes? Or indeed in the Linux OS logs?

Game crashes to desktop everytime I click on the region names (ie: a city) (1.5.2)

Did you mean 1.5.0.2? Or 1.5.1?

In your reinstall did you make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again?

No mods involved?

Is this only since 1.5.1 ? What happens if you revert to an older version, as a test?

From that pdx_settings.txt you don't seem to have set the refresh rate cap? Please try that.

That error.log looks pretty ugly! Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

In the launcher-game settings menu set Display mode to fullScreen, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

If those don't help:

WON'T LAUNCH FROM STEAM:
What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.3/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT ck3.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

CRASHING:
Quite a few unusual errors in that log. My guess would be your reinstalls did not clean up all the files. Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam workshop for this game
