Please try running the games' executables from a command line , as I requested, and tell us what you see there. Thanks.

A firewall can block the game's access to the outside world, but won't crash it.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

That's because uninstalling a game in Steam only removes files Steam put there. File under the Documents folder that the game or user put there are left alone.

In the launcher Game Settings menu, turn off Vsync and set the framerate cap to 60. Any better?

We use the configured Windows User Documents folder. If you move that folder somewhere else manually, the game and launcher will not know you've done that.

In the left column of File Explorer right click on Documents, just under This PC there. Go to Properties, Location - that is where the game and launcher will look. What does it say there?

Game logs end up in Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ , if that's what you are referring to. But they show nothing to do with implementing mods.

When you subscribe to a mod on the Steam Workshop, do its files end up in Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mod/ after starting the launcher, or not?

What launcher version do you see? Current is 2022.3

@A Sentient Potato just checking you're seeing these new posts that seem to illuminate the issue rather well?

And that not all reports of this issue are on Win11 (eg post #16 above)?

Glennwebb said: Can a hardware fault present itself after months of working fine or could that be something which develops instantly after some time?
Either of those are possible, just as they would be with a car, say, or a phone or any other piece of hardware.

Note I am not 100% certain hardware is the problem here; as you can see in other threads around here there are other such reports against this game! But that persistent nVidia driver error is a standout in your case.

That said I am surprised openGL did not help. Can I see your pdx_setting... Read more

If you try this on another Windows user on this machine, OR on another machine, does it also happen there?

The only thing I'm aware of that would change an Ironman game to a non-Ironman one is loading it with mods enabled - is that what you think might have happened?

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
- run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
- subscribe to a few mods

- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

Yes, we still see this as the most recent entry at the end of dxdiag:
Fault bucket LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys_Turing, type 0
Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Very disappointing, I hope you don't have a hardware fault with this card!

Edit that pdx_settings.txt and find the renderer line, and chang eit as follows:
"renderer"={
version=0
value="OpenGL"
}
That will be slower, but for the sake of the test is it at least more stable?

It's not impossible. If you have GeForce Experience loaded, please unload it before starting the game.

If that doesn't help, edit that pdx_settings.txt and change the renderer part as follows:
"renderer"={
version=0
value="OpenGL"
}
That will be slower, but for the purposes of testing does it still crash?

It's not impossible I suppose, but I would have thought they'd prevent you from installing a driver for the wrong card. Yours would be this one I believe:

GeForce Game Ready Driver | 511.79 | Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 | NVIDIA

Heya!
The idea about these decisions is that you go above and beyond your trait. Letting you trade success for sanity by overworking yourself.

This is working as designed :D

If the launcher crashes, that is nothing to do with the game (they are separate apps) and it is no wonder there are no game crash logs. If you run ck3.exe manually from File Explorer does the game start?

For the launcher crash, Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam
OR
- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the Epic cl... Read more

In the Game settings part of the launcher, disable Vsync then set the frame rate cap to 60. Is that any better?

In what way did you optimise CK3 please? Did you unload GeForce Experience, if so did that help the issue under 1.5.0.2 ?
