I don't know then, there's not a lot else to try from our end.

If you exit Steam and run ck3.exe directly is it still like that?

What if you exit GeForce Experience before starting the game?

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters

  1. Go to Windows Control panel.
  2. Click on Network & Internet.
  3. Click on View Network Status.
    Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
  4. Click on Change adapter options.
  5. Right-click all network adapte...

Aside from the raw fps numbers, what other symptoms of poor performance do you see? Jerkiness in zooming or scrolling the map? Slow time passing?

And does this happen right from the start, or only in mid or late game? Or only after playing for awhile?

The 1.5 patch was release on Feb 8, but you mention having had this problem in January 2021, is that right? If so it must be something local that changed to cause this to you, rather than a game bug as such.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

The most common cause of saves not writing out is an antivirus app getting in the way. Which one do you use? Does that affect both local and cloud saves?

Add ck3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

It is hard to see how getting an achievement does anything to the save game file, as so far as I know the fact of having got the achievement is not stored in the save file at all, only in your Steam account.

What is the issue with non-Ironman saves and the Resume button? Is it that they do not show there? Or they show but won't load?

What launcher version do you see now? Current is 2022.3

Corvic said: Error log is still blank.
But you said these errors were in the error log? I'm not understanding something here I think ...

What if you make a new Windows user on this machine, log into Windows with that, and try the game there?

CK3 and CSL are completely unrelated games, aside from being published by us - they are on different engines and written by different studios.

Has this always happened with these games on this machine, or they were okay up to some point?

You can't do this with CSL, but what happens if you run the ck3 executable directly from a terminal command, line, which bypasses the launcher?

From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

So there iwas more than one cause contributing to your problem. Tricky!

Now let's try a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

In your clean reinstall of the game, did you make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again?

Because otherwise I have no explanation why this is happening to you, and so far as we know only you.

You'll see other threads here on this, it's being looked into by the developers.

In that case the problem was not caused by the DLCs nor the 1.5.x patches.

I see you have Citrix , has this just happened since it was installed or just updated?

Citrix Workspace causing low gaming performance on PCs.

Hi I was hoping to bring this attention to citrix as best as I could. A couple people on reddit and myself were experiencing poor gaming performance in certain games.... Read more

Can I see those two files again please, just to 100% confirm it took effect?

@Arakrates this may be another case of this problem!

Because it still reads the mod files even if they are disabled.

That doesn't mean that can cause the game problems while they are disabled though.

Is this in saves from before the 1.5 patch, so started under the 1.4.x patches? Or started under 1.5?

If under 1.4.x , you should revert to that version in the Steam Betas tab to complete any such campaigns.

I'm not aware. DLCs might trigger this problem, but you. could try disabling them all in our launcher - is it any better that way?

If not, as I suspect, then revert to 1.4.4 in the Steam Betas tab (leave the DLCs disabled) - any better?

Either way please then opt out of that beta back to 1.5.0.2 . DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. Tagging @Arakrates as I think this is another instance of this ongoing problem.

I believe mod errors like that occur regardless of whether they are actually enabled or not.

I see no audio errors in it anymore though?

I believe that's referring to video memory, not general system memory. Although you have plenty of that too.

But no harm in looking into that - in the main game menu, alt tab out and run Task Manager-processes. How much memory is ck3.exe using? I don't know of a way offhand to check video memory usage, maybe GPU-Z ?

Then please edit that pdx_settings, and find the renderer line. Change it as follows:
"renderer"={
version=0
value="OpenGL"
}

It will be slower, but is it more stable? Either way if I can get new copies of that file and error.log after that test, thanks.

That pdx_settings.txt still shows you using DX11. Did you have some trouble changing it to OpenGL as I described?
