Heya Dawson4555, I don't know if you've had a chance to check out the above solution, but I wanted to check with you what version of the game you are trying to launch?

Currently, you can not launch the 1.4.4 version of the game with the Royal Court DLC, if you want to play an older version, then please disable the DLC in the launcher.
You can switch back to the newest version of the game, by changing the beta version to "none"

PiotrB said: Hello,

I encountered a problem with a game launch after Royal Court DLC update. After starting the game using launcher or .exe file the application crashes and suggest me sending a crash report to Paradox.

I have tested your suggested list, but none of below tips worked:

---------------------
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if...

HelpMeWithFleetBug said: I am also having the same problem, the log indicates it is a problem with the dlc music text file:
Heya, looking through the logs, it looks like you are trying to launch an older version of the game (1.4.4) with Royal Court DLC enabled. This is not possible, because Royal Court is only supported from update 1.5 and forward.

Please disable Royal Court DLC in the launcher, or switch to the latest version of the game.

Great to hear, sorry about the hassle, the hotfix was released late on Friday but I'm happy you got to enjoy the game during the weekend :D!

rstil2 said: I haven't gotten any reply to my issue. When are you all going to fix the CTD issue? I paid for this DLC 1.5 years ago and now I except to play it, or at the very least an answer as to when I will be able to play it. I have been waiting for over 24hours for an answer!
Paradox staff do not work on weekends, I'm afraid. I only do what I can as an external contractor, I have no ability to fix anything.

One person here sees this as being related to entering the throne room - is that what you are seeing too? Or can it happen any time for you?

And how much memory is ck3.exe using just before the crash, if you can catch it then?

Certainly! This must be a game bug I think, I'll raise it with Paradox tonight.

Sorry about that!

Ironman does not do autosaves as such; rather it does a forced manual save t load time, then at certain events like declaring war or whatever, and at certain times too. So the autosave settings do not affect it.

As you've no doubt seen in other threads here, this is looking like a problem in 1.5 . I'll be raising it with Paradox tonight.

Sorry about that!

As you've no doubt seen in other threads here , this is starting to look like a problem in the 1.5 patch. I'll be alerting Paradox to the situation tonight my time.

Sorry about that!

PS: how much memory is ck3.exe using after, say 1 hour? Then at 2 hours?

Try deleting everything in the Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/ folder, except any valued save games of course.

Does that help?

That's a launcher issue, not a game problem. Can you start the game with ck3.exe run directly?

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

First let's fix your launcher problem.

remove the following files and folders:

  • ~/.paradoxlauncher
  • ~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2
  • ~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/launcherpath

Download the Linux installer package from here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1AdfRZdj032sLEU6p9N__-jZ8M5zRl_BP

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then run the game from the Steam PLAY button, to install the ... Read more
