Seeing some Q's around checkpoint bots.

We have no plans to issue restrictions or bans to checkpoint bots under this policy change. Breathe easy.

On that topic, hit us with feedback on what activities you most often use checkpoint bots for, and why. Happy to pass that along.

Post

Starting today, we have revised our Restriction and Ban policy to include the use of input macros to automate gameplay. While input macros can be a beneficial accessibility tool for many—and we intend to keep it that way—some have been leveraging these tools to automate gameplay.

Players detected using automation to circumvent idle detection or perform automated activities to earn loot may be restricted or banned. Loot includes, but is not limited to, XP, materials, or drops (e.g. Exotic class items). Automation or circumvention includes, but is not limited to, the use of programmable controllers, keyboard/mouse adapters, advanced macros, or artificial intelligence.

We have no plans...

Hi everyone. To clarify what is being shared here, it's not possible for us to simply click a button to undo name changes; that is a tool that has never existed. This is why we will be offering a name change token once we solve the underlying issues.

The vast majority of the names that were changed were in error and will be able to be used again. Only the most egregious names probably won't be able to used (i.e. a name that would go against our Community Code of Conduct).

We understand this has been frustrating, and we're working to get things out the door as quickly as possible.

Hey all,

We have identified the issue that was forcing a high number of Bungie name changes. We have applied a server-side change to prevent the issue from impacting accounts moving forward.

We are continuing to investigate options to address player accounts that were impacted. This will take some time as our path forward will be dependent on fixing the underlying issue.

As noted yesterday, we are still planning to distribute name change tokens to all players at a later date to assist.

As we have more information, we'll be sure to share it with you.

Post

We are tracking an issue where a high number of account names have been changed by our Bungie name moderation tool.

We are actively investigating and expect to have more information tomorrow, including details on an additional name change token for all players.

Very interesting since there don't seem to be any other pulse rifle changes? Did I miss something?

From our wonderful sandbox focused folks:

We moved some things around behind the scenes to clean up old content and make what used to be one-off exotic weapon types that now have a designated subfamily easier to maintain.

Unfortunately during the clean up process we accidentally removed something needed to stay (an additional intrinsic RoF scalar), hence the change to only Grav Lance. The RPM on the inspection screen change was purely a visual fix and had no effect on the weapons themselves.

Hey all,

We know that recent changes at Bungie have created uncertainty surrounding the future of Destiny. Rest assured we remain committed to Destiny, to supporting our community with transparency, and to delivering regular updates about the game.

We'll be talking with you all about the future of Destiny and plans for our next multi-year journey soon. Once we plant a flag for the date, we'll let you all know.

Thank you for your patience, and we'll see you again soon.

We have a few repeat issues that have cropped up this year. Team is making sure to note them. Can't say if we'll get these fixed up before the end of the event, but hope to.

Long term, looking at a better way to track these issues to avoid repeats bugs.

Thanks for the report.

Will pass along the feedback. The loot eruption is a fun time, but totally understand the feels when getting a lot of the same drops. It's the new weapon in the bunch, so likely some desire to ensure players get their hands on it rather than "older" loot, but the perk refreshes give incentive to hunt for all.

In the short term, think of it as a little way to get some extra glimmer via dismantling.

Hopped in Fireteam Finder to hit a GM for Solstice bounties. Sadly Baboon'd out of the first.

Hit the queue again, ended up finding the same host.

Messaged "sorry, if I error out again I'll just go cry in a corner" - response was "The Destiny Way!"

Had a great time running through S.A.B.E.R.

No comms. Each of us reviving each other carefully.

I ran ahead to do the ball dunk in the shock room after watching a previous fireteam die a few times. Wanted to show off. Got it first try even though I hit some geo and was delayed. Felt so goooood.

I definitely put on my tryhard pants anytime I hit one of these to help out as much as possible.

Finished up the boss room. One death, nothing crazy.

Gg's all around, and we went our separate ways into the night. Felt like a trio of cowboys coming together to break up a gang that'd invaded a local town. Even if the strike itself is a futuristic warmind bunker, still had some nice west...

We've identified an issue impacting Exotic Class Item drop rates. At this time, Tier 4 Overthrow Chests are not contributing to increased drop chances, nor can Exotic Class Items be awarded through them.

We're currently developing a fix, aiming for a near-term hotfix.

We are also looking into giving players a way to chase specific perks in a future update. More details as plans solidify.

Just wanted to confirm that this is not intended behavior and we're currently investigating a fix.

Today is a difficult day for the Destiny team. Out of respect to our friends and colleagues, and to give our team time to take care of each other, we are cancelling this week's TWID. Our focus today is showing our support and respect to everyone who has worked on Destiny during this incredibly challenging time. We want to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Destiny.

While our team is taking this time to help support each other, we want you, our community, to know that we expect no disruption to all of our previously communicated content plans. Our content roadmap remains unchanged. This also includes our future plans for next year and beyond.

Whilst we look forward to sharing more of our future plans at a later time, this week is about supporting each other. We’ll talk again soon.

Appreciate all for the feedback.
Always happy to relay what's enjoyed, what may need work, or whatever else may be on your minds when it comes to activity content.

Hit us with your favorite moments, or moments you wish you were different. We'll gather it up and pass it along.

Hey all,

We are extending the "Challenge week" for Salvation's Edge by one additional week. As an issue impacting associated Triumphs lasted for multiple weeks, we want to ensure players have appropriate time to plan/complete the encounters they need.

All challenges will be enabled in Salvation's Edge through weekly reset on Aug 6, just as Solstice begins.

If you're not caught up on the what/why, here's a link to our previous announcement: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/1e487a9/master_salvations_edge_challenge_triumphs/

Team is aware of the issue. Indeed a bug, not intended design. Don't have a timeline at the moment, but stay tuned for future comms on a fix timeframe.

R/whoosh

While our target was initially early August, this change was completed in time to ship tomorrow.

This is the risk in communicating changes early, but we'd rather look to set expectations on what's to come when we can, rather than wait for exacts on the final ship date.
